Langford should be squad as it stands. Definitely ahead of McKay

Fair call, I see a few medium sized forwards ahead of him especially with Heeney and Petracca more than likely occupying one of the flanks.
No medium forward (depending on whether or not you count Waterman as a medium or key forward, I go the latter) has moremgoals or combined goals and assists than him.

I count Waterman for his position and Heeney and Petracca to take the other flank with Stengle in the pocket. Did Langford get injured today?

Geelong parted ways with Clark and he has turned out very good, plays very similar to Holmes both have incredible leg speed, who would you take between the two?

He was just a kid when he left you and said he felt like he didn't fit in and wanted to go to a club with other young players. This is why he elected to come to Freo and not WCEs, despite growing up supporting West Coast. I think happy players play better football, like when Gary Ablett Jnr returned to Geelong.

Yeah we were stacked with hbf in their prime at that time, we had Duncan Tuohy Smith and Stewart vying for that position. Would love to of had him, Zuthrie and Holmes swapping through those positions now though. I think we should of demanded more for how good he was considering he hadn’t done a proper football pre season before the AFL system because of how good he was at cricket.

he has become a bit of a cult hero at Freo now and is the star of a podcast with Emma O'Driscoll from AFLW. He is a massive character and incredibly intelligent. He will end up in a coaching ior media role.

Not a bad effort...

Changes I would make:

In: I.Rankine, H.Andrews, S.Collins, K.Langford, B.Grundy, T.Miller

Out: C.Rozee, D.Moore, B.McKay, J.Ginnivan, R.Marshall, T.Kelly

Pearce has barely lost a contest all season but he's going at a 26.8% loss rate 🤔 even Moore is doing better than that and he could barely defend an Auskicker worth his salt.
Loss rate just seems like an empty stat. I remember Griffin Logue was going at like 9% a few seasons ago and he definitely wasn't even close to our best defender.

Aside from the WC game where everyone sucked, I genuinely can't think of a game where Pearce got beaten.

Ah what? It's a pretty important metric to judge a KPD on given the role they play... Also Logue was one of the departures that took Freo from finishing in 5th to 14th, hugely underrated player. He was the first defender Freo called upon to go on the two most dangerous forward in the competition that year in Curnow and J Cameron and did extremely well on them both times.

Would definitely swap Andrews in for Daniher. Andrews is probably in career best form and a real chance of making the final team, while Daniher is way down on accuracy and well back in the pack for the key forwards (even acknowledging his ruck time)

Agree, in a poor side I've thought McCluggage has been very good too. It's an utter joke he hasn't got an AA yet.

Don't be stupid, Logue was depth and he knew it. We had two key defenders finish top 4 in our b&f that season and neither of them were him. Cameron kicked 1 goal from two games vs us last year, don't think we missed Logue there at all. The only reason he was called to go on Curnow is because Cox is slow as shit. Logue is probably the player that had the least impact on us going from 5th to 14th.

Even now when we have the best defence in the League and it's Pearce and a teenager playing on the big guys every game.

Disagree. Logue was fantastic in 2022.

Regardless, one on one win % is a crucial metric for KPD's and one they are heavily judged off of.

Should be the only thing the actual KPD are judged on. Flanks or loose defender look at other things like metres gained etc. However the two keys surely are about who has stopped the opposition forwards the most and that is surely Weitering and Sam Taylor. One thing i'll preface though Weitering has basically missed 4 games already (3 games early and subbed out in one), and Taylor missed a couple. Not sure either can afford to miss too many more and get picked. There are a LOT of defenders you could pick, if Essendon comes top 4/5 Ben McKay comes into calculations as he's a big reason they are (him and Merrett)

I agree in past years he should have been in, I'd probably have him about our 3rd or 4th best chance this year so far. McCluggage has been a bit hot and cold so far. Even games when he has racked up the ball he has been a bit more inconsistent and been getting caught holding the ball a lot.

I'd say in terms of likelyhood of any Lions making AA at this point of the year it would be something like this:
Andrews (very good chance at the team)> Zorko (maybe the team but likely squad) > Neale/McCluggage (chance at squad but would need to lift)

The year they picked Mills on the wing took the cake and I love Mills could have just picked him on the bench! Luckily after that year they have finally picked some wings who actually remotely resemble normal wingers!

If you make the 8 (and seeing every other side is flopping around the 8 it’s hardly a big stretch), you might end up with 2/3. If you do I’m assuming Vlugg and Neale will be a big reason why.

Weitering and Taylor are clearly the two best KPDs for this 1v1 loss % metric. Weitering significantly ahead of Taylor.

Allir has half as many 1v1s so I think it's unfair to include him.

May, Collins and Andrews aren't too far behind Taylor.

It's time for Weitering to be rewarded, I think.
