Meek screams trap to me. At that price one spud game and the strategy is cooked.

If he goes 60 vs Witts this week it will tank his cash gen. Xerri the week after not easy either.
I feel like these decisions are the ones that define your season. Im ready to make a potentially season defining risk. OK, so that is probably a bit dramatic but it is a big risk and it has potential to blow up but it also has potential to set my team up for the mid-part of the season.

Honestly it (Grundy > Meek) goes against my philosophy this season but because i dont think there are many trade options this round - so opportunity cost is low - and the fact i do actually rate Meek as a player has created the perfect storm for my team. So im going to jump on a rookie early and a very risky mid-pricer in order to bank 280k.

Also, after this week i just cant go another round without Heeney. Maybe i have the blinkers on because of that but i see this as an opportunity to let my rookies fatten next round, get an instant cash boost and finally grab someone who may well still be value at 638k. I dont want to chase Heeney's points but he is priority number one and this offers a sure fire way to get him.

So is it better to keep Grundy who i dont view as a keeper anyway and start culling rookies early while there arent many downgrade options i like (outside of Clohesy)? Or do i 'stick to the process' and go with either 1 trade to Clohesy or no trades? Or do i risk a failed 2nd ruck who i can trade to a forward/mid/defender at any time thanks to Jackson & other DPP?

I think im ready for option 3 and to take a risk and trade in a mid-pricer with Meek being the best option. Apart from Massimo, i havent traded to any genuine mid-pricers yet so i've convinced myself this is the opportunity. Could it fail? Absolutely. However, best 18 for the next 2 rounds, the fact that i have Jackson and other DPP links so can trade Meek out to pretty much any position from round 7 onwards and the fact it gets me Heeney, makes me willing to risk it.

Now i cross everything and hope Meek can score well for 4-5 weeks and then his job is done!

my rucks are gawndy , livingston and jackson

i like the idea of waiting for darcy to be r/f and change over ruck cover

Currently sitting on;

Howes > Clohesy
Jordan > $675k to spend.

Tempting to splurge it all on T.Green. Thinking of being conservative to have some money left over and go Dawson, or even jump on N.Martin for even cheaper and swing him back into defense when he gets DPP. T.Green feels like the common sense approach, but the $118k/142k left over from the other two would make it easier doing more upgrades over the coming weeks... Thoughts?

Depends on structure but i rate T.Green very highly so i like that option. If you dont have a great backline then Martin is still a viable option but with best 18 for the next 2 rounds and Clohesy potentially being a good scorer in the backline, id be more inclined to go to T.Green. I wouldnt go Dawson. There is a chance he turns it around but until he drops a good score or 2, id be pretty wary.

Yep got a tough run of games ahead Witts Xerri Grundy English Marshall

Witts and Grundy are pretty restrictive matchups, but the others not so much. English might be a big name/scorer, but over the last 10 games, the Dogs have conceded the second most points to ruckmen of any team in the comp. The idea that he's a tough matchup is a bit of a fallacy.
  • English so far this year has given up 162 points to Gawn, 103 to Rhys Stanley, 85 to BJ Williams and 90 to Ned Moyle
  • Xerri has given up 178 to Jackson and 96 to TDK
  • Marshall gave up 133 to Nank on the weekend.
Not saying to buy or not buy Meek, I just wouldn't worry too much about the matchups personally (besides this week).

Good thing about Dawson is he is still getting the pill, it's just his disposal efficiency is rubbish at the moment. Has to turn it around eventually... Green is awesome, going to be a top mid for the year

Dawson can't be an option without a single ton next to his name. His breakeven is 150 so even if he does turn it around you've got time to wait and see and be at least semi confident you're brining in a premo and not the certified spud I (and many others) traded out last week.

You've got the money there, spend it on someone you're confident will pay it back.

But really, why is Grundy the most traded out player?

It’s not like folks are trading out every player on their bye.

Sure he’s not starting the season on fire, but his averaging ok.

And unless you’re going to Meek or Xerri, you’re spending valuable upgrade money to sideways.

I have far bigger problems than Grundy

Instead of going Grundy to meek, is anyone else considering going from Jordan to Meek? Can put Grundy on the pine this week, gawn next week and re evaluate after that depending on if you want to upgrade Grundy or trade meek after he's made some cash.
I certainly am now.

Not a bad strategy.

I like the meek pick. R15 bye is perfect plenty of options to upgrade him too. If he doesn't go premo I have Jackson and eventually Darcy to cover.

I’m looking at Dawson following week for $530k
I’ll gamble he'll come good and has a great fixture too.
Need to find some value for money players.

I like Dawson ...almost started with him.

I need to decide if I go with meek or no to meek.
