How is all the talk about Xerri being all Australian ruck? Big Ro isn’t even mentioned, it’s despicable.

The big difference between Marshall and Xerri (who is having a great season) is that Marshall wins games for you. Xerri will get there but there's a weird amount of smoke being blown about him which isnt warranted yet.

Xerri would have made a nice one two punch with Marshall ... as it stands we still need more ruck depth

North were pushing for a 2nd rounder which in retrospect would have been worth it.
That said, he would have still been behind Marshall and likely would have needed to be traded on again and wouldnt have gotten much draft back from just playing at Sandy.
The current setup isn't too bad really.
Heath is far enough behind Ro, that he knows he doesn't deserve to be named ahead of him, but he's at the point where he can probably get the odd game now.
The only issue is if they both get injured somehow.

I doubt many ruckman want to play second ruck and that’s what would have happened to him.
Every club wants a back up ruck so that’s why we have to develop our own.
Hoping big time that Heath becomes it.

That assumes that we've wanted Marshall to play as the "first" ruck.
Given we've supposedly chased De Koning, Draper, Xerri and Bryan over the last few years makes it seem like we wanted Marshall to play as a forward/ruck.
Anyway - perhaps Caminiti as the fwd/ruck might turn out to be the answer even though it doesn't help with Marshalls lack of tap craft.

St Kilda have always undervalued ruckmen. We are ready to pay millions to a midfielder but not even close to that for a decent ruck.
In the last year we have had the option to get a quality tap ruckman like Goldstein or Grundy but we haven't wanted to pay the market rate.
We were such a more dangerous side with Ryder and Marshall in the same team. Lets hope the tide is turning now and we can now see the value two ruckmen in the selected team.

Neither Goldstein nor Grundy were going to move to a team to compete with a spot with Marshall. Grundy 100% wasnt and Goldstein is far too old for what we want and honestly has been pretty inconsistent. Would have been a waste of a spot had he come over.

That highlights package when we drafted him he had plenty of that break away power. He looked like a snack sized Bont. Hadn't noticed him at all in the draft.

It does seem like Marshall is held back in all Aus discussions purely since he plays for a lower profile club. There’s a lot of recent talk about Tristan Terri as the AA ruckman
Marshalk can’t be being held back due lack of wins as Tristan Terri is getting credit, while having little impact on delivering wins.
Marshall also seems to be a victim of his own consistency across a few years, while Xeri is standing out as it’s his first high performance seasons.
Marshall kicks twice the goals of Xeri & twice the metres gained. Bottom line is Marshall will win our B&F by the length of the Flemington straight in a team with 3x the wins. And our wins, I’d hazard a guess Marshall has been high in the coaches votes.
If Gawn gets the nod over Marshall it might make sense
