Brady needs to get a roll on. Our options are limiting with splitting pick 2, and getting the remaining the players we are chasing.

2 > 6 + 13
Our wait for Richmond to finally do their trades
2 > 6 + 11

25 + F3 > Daniel + F2

F1 > 8 (battle compo)

8 + F2 (WB) > Houston

44 > Parker (maybe throw in Konstanty)

Draft with 6 and 11. Stevens F/S with 62..
Trades involving just picks can be traded until the start of the draft fwiw.

It was relatively similar to today's system then we just stuffed it. Instead of trading the pick

No chance we trade pick 2 and F1 for 5 and 9. That would be insane overs
Not if we're planning on a first round tall this draft and we're happy to use F1 on Houston.

Then it would be perfect.

Only concern is other clubs getting there first. Melbourne got to P9 before us. West Coast are shopping P3 around for similar deals we are chasing. Collingwood getting P13 would hamper our chances at Houston, unless we can top that pick by selling our F1 or splitting 2 elsewhere.

Just like Hawthorn and West Coast. Hawks got sick of waiting so traded out the pick west coast needed for Baker. That now opens up a Baker move to Freo instead.

2, f1 for 5, 9 ??

You better have another look at that one...

Again, it’s about the result.
Multiple reporters have said we’re after a tall with our first pick.
None are going top 4.
Brady has also said they were prepared to drop a few spots for the right deal.
Multiple reporters have said we’d be prepared to offer f1 for Houston. Nine would get that done.
The merits of those decisions are obviously up for debate. But those picks align with what our objectives reportedly are.

No, just no...

So we drop from 2 to 5 for shits and giggles and trade our f1 for 9?
What are the positives of your suggested trade?

I actually thought your original post was a typo tbh

Going for a 'reach' at pick 2 > needlessly trading down to hopefully take the same player and get a junk pick.
Is it that much of a reach if you use it as a chance to make other teams match? Lombard and Ashcroft could get called out and then player becomes pick 4

Their pick 35?

25 for Daniel and 35 would be ok.

The Suns have five picks between 25 and 35 that will be swallowed up for Lombard so it winds up being 30.

The other possibility is that we’re only planning to take two in the top 20 plus River. Or three if we bring forward our F1.

So our other picks can just be used to get Daniel and Parker done and maybe improve next years hand.

Me checking news before work: North have got a great strategy to get *s pick 9 for Houston. Could be a game changer.

Me checking news AFTER work: Demon's set to land *'s pick 9 in swap.

Damn its a ****ing rollercoaster supporting this team

It's the equivalent of pick 14 in points deficit.

Batshit crazy.

Do not consider pick 25 for Daniel.
It should be treated as a salary dump. Suns donated pick 7 and the privilege of Jack Bowes contract to Geelong yet we’re demanded to pay a second rounder for a 170cm fella who would otherwise get paid $700k to sit in the Doggies VFL side.

If Sydney expect more than a third rounder for Parker they’re taking the piss. Pick 66 was a lowball but nowhere near the waste of time their request for our second rounder was.
Hand over pick 44 and hope those campaigners go back to their academies.

F1 for #9, especially with a high possibility that Houston wouldn’t come to us regardless, would be diabolical.
Melbourne could almost be doing us a favour by taking that opportunity away.

In other news, that Jack Darling bloke looks like a player.

It is bat shit crazy, but so is your suggestion of a F1 for 13 and F3 from Gold Coast.

Gold Coast would bite your hand off for that deal and it literally doesn’t improve our position.

People are making all these suggestions where we take unders on our F1 to get Houston and we don’t even know if the guy wants to play for us.

To me that’s batshit crazy.

This year I would be looking to split 2, take Parker and go to the draft.

Our F1 is going to be valuable next year, but everyone wants to piss it away because they are scared players are leaving if we don’t get a very good flanker.

Guess what no matter how good Houston is, he is one player and won’t move the needle as much as people think.

Also if players want to leave then they will leave.

As much as pick 25 would be way overs for Parker, I would sooner trade it for him than for the midget. I honestly don't think he improves our team at all. As previously stated, I would not trade even a third-rounder for him. Too many list holes that we could better fill by taking 25 to the draft. Even trading our F1 for Houston would be preferable.
Look, it’s a minor thing, but the term ‘midget’ is pretty dated. I’m mates with a little person & he ****ing hates it.
Just a note.

What's batshit crazy is heading to the draft every year expecting 18 year olds to move the needle...

Houston would be part of the sum, not all of it. He gives us real leadership down back along with Gus. Parker, and Darling in the guts and up fwd, respectively.

If elite talent is available and willing, we need to do whatever possible to accommodate, not piss it away for next years shiny new toy.

Players only want to leave when they can't see light at the end of the tunnel, not because 'they want too'.

We would onky be drafting replacements anyway if we go down the draft only route for much longer... Treading water because the club wouldn't act when it had the opportunity to acquire team changing talent.

Next years pick probably gets pushed out to 10 anyway with academy, f/s, ngas, etc, and we can always trade back in with futures if necessary.

FMD, look at where we are after drafting top talent for 5 years, and you want to stay on this treadmill for another year or two!

Batshit crazy alright...
