Not it’s really irrelevant because the pick only goes out because players that were never available in the pool anyway have been taken.

It’s still Pick 25 in the available pool.

5 kids tied to academies or FS going before pick 25 makes no difference at all to the player available at that pick.

So if there were 9 players that were tied to academies and FS that go from Pick 2-10 at 11 you are still theoretically getting the 2nd best player in the available pool.

Agree it's still pick 25 but there are 29 apparently better kids been picked before it

I never get this argument. You might be getting the player in the available pool at that pick, but the relative quality of the pick doesn't stay the same.

But kids you could never pick anyway.

People get fixated with the number. They should be concentrating on the available pool and not kids they could never get anyway.

At least shows they are keen

they and other clubs were always going to come for pick 2 with a big deal

especially as 3 is now locked up by the blues and crows arent trading 4 as they are hoping draper is there

any club that wants a high end pick knows only pick 2 is a chance

and tigers especially as they want the 2 best kids and taking 2 of FOS/Jagga/lalor who are all good mates also

Yes but its value changes.... so really you need to compare Daniel against the 30th best kid in the draft

It’s the exact same quality regardless of the pick number. You are literally taking the 25 best prospect in the available pool.

The players quality doesn’t change because they were taken at 2 or 11. It’s the same player LOL

So you are trying to tell me that if none of the academies or FS are bid on before pick 25 that the player is better because they were taken at 25?

It’s fools logic.

It’s the exact same player!

Be that as it may... there's only one realistic option to trade 2 with, and that's Richmond.

That's why I'm tempering my expectations.
With their boat load of picks they will be more interested in getting the very best in the pool.

There is no need for us to buckle and take a shit deal.

Moving out too far just maximises the risk to us.

It’s been said many times, we should only be looking to push out as far as 6. Any further and those talls on our draft board could be gone.

I hope we can split 2 with Richmond, but it's going to be complicated by them probably wanting similar players to us. They are at a start of rebuild so I imagine they will prioritise talls.

100%

So imagine how bad they are going to be when they are gone and relying on 18 year olds to generate their output.

We have first hand lived the experience of brining in kids into a system with very little leadership and support around them.

Why do you think we are trying to bring in Darling, Parker and Daniel? It’s not because they are match winners.

I don't know they still have Balta, Broad and Gibcus (ACL March this year). They will need to get a replacement for Broad but they key defenders are better than ours.

They will have Vlastuin and Short down back, they will try and do a Sheezel and get a talented kid to play down back early on.

They had a lot of injury issues with Prestia(13), Taranto(15) and Hopper(12). If they can get more of a full season out of them then they will probably hold up better. They need an injection of young midfield talent there. Tarranto is 26, Hopper 27 so they will play for a while. Prestia is 32 and not sure how much footy he has left. They will want to get an inside mid.

Nankervis is still kicking in the ruck.

Lynch only played 4 games and Cumberland only 6, but yeah, their forward line makes ours look decent. They need a lot of work there. If they use all the picks they currently have, they can solve a lot of problems. They might not be down as long as people think.

Why? You need to be comparing him to the kid that is projected to be the 25th best talent in the available pool.

Kids that you can never bring into your club don’t change the value of that player. As I said it’s the exact same player, just a different number attached to their draft position.
