Tbf, he also said we wouldn't be willing to jeopardize our draft hand to bring in the senior players, which we ended up doing (bar pick 2). I wouldn't be holding my breath on what Brady said...
True. He did say "dilute our hand too much" and at the time we had our draft hand. That might change the thinking with pick 2 on best talent vs needs. We will see what happens.

If Akko isn’t bid in the first dozen - pick 28 for our f2 should be what we target
Yep that could be an option if we don't split 2, but I'll actually correct what I said in that we shouldn't trade anything before the draft. In thinking more about it more we should wait until pick 1 called out by Tigers and then we know what the options are before moving future picks.

If FOS gets called at 1, that might have Blues and Crows making offers for 2 to get Draper ahead of each other.
Demons, Saints and Tigers will have some sort of offer. But if we don't move the F1 or split 2, then we could certainly move the F2 for pick 28 off Bombres.

Fair enough. Some including myself do think it has jeopardised it.

Highly doubt we go into the draft with 2 and 62, so I’m sure they’re already well in talks on moves. I just hope we don’t get unders for 2 or F1 because of it, which you can hardly blame anyone for being sceptical of. Re f2, I don’t think clubs will be rushing to trade out of the 20s this year.
Bombres are one who can afford to trade out with 28 and still match a bid on Kako at pick 5 with remaining picks.
I don't think Lions trade 27 into next year as they need more points. Dogs might package up with 35 and 48 or Port with 36 and 50 or something like that. They need more points to match Ashcroft and Marshall bids that's for sure.

If the Tigers take 8 top 25 picks how are they going to manage fa?
I recognise it would be playing a epicly long game but perhaps it's in our interest to have them take all 8.
The Tigers are about to experience what it looks like to have a bunch of kids and almost no experienced talent, they may not win a game next season.

When you've recently won multiple premierships, maybe you don't care.

Still, they may want to make room for some DFAs just to get some experience in the team.

Pack it up lad.

On another note, I actually think the deal will get done with the Saints.

The desperately need an elite mid.

It won’t be 7/8 for 2 but will be some futures negotiatited.

They are the most motivated buyer for 2.
I reckon Armstrong & Tauru would be gone in this scenario, meaning we miss both.

1. Richmond- Lalor
2. Brisbane- Ashcroft
3. St Kilda- Smith
4. Carlton- O'Sullivan
5. Adelaide- Draper
6. Melb- Tauru/Armstrong
7. Richmond- Tauru/Armstrong (maybe Langford?)
8.

It would be Langford before either of those players, the Saints need mids.

Whats a legitimate cost for our future first?
I am in the keep two and take the best available, but I really would like to see us get another hit in the top end of this year

Keep #2, do as much trading of futures as is smart and responsible to get another decent pick or two.
Swap our #2 for Adelaides #4 and their F1st then ontrade that to GWS for #15 and #16 maybe
We end up with #4, #15 and #16...
l'm not sure if thats a good or bad trade but no doubt people here will let me know... :laughv1:

It seems like most want Tauru as our target? Do we see him as a defender or forward? I think a key forward is the priority.

Both, but he's moving towards the top 5 because of his potential as a forward.

We'd be drafting him as a partner for Larkey imo.

He's very mobile and we'd be able to play him as a 3rd tall next to Darling imo.

With the added flexibility of being able to shift him to defence as a 3rd defender (in his first few years) if there was an injury.

One thing that none of us know is what sorts of discussions have already taken place and will take place between now and draft night. For all we know some pick trades have already been made in principle, but just like what happens every trade period each year, deals do not get done until the last minute.

Anyway I'd like to see us trade picks with the Tigers to get Armstrong. There is something about him that I really like.

i still think Shanahan will be the better KPF and we could get him with a pick around 11

Plenty of instant feedback at BigFooty.com

I can't see the Crows paying up that much to move from 4 to 2.

Crows future 1st for 15 and 16 I'm neutral on.
