If he does want to look elsewhere, and being realistic he should, what do you do?

He's out of contract...you either trade him, he goes in the draft, or delist him....I can't see there being any bad blood.

CROWS CONFIDENT ON CURTIN

Adelaide’s top-10 pick Daniel Curtin is totally comfortable at his new home at the Crows as Matthew Nicks tries to build up his form as a running defender after an AFL debut as a key back.

Despite recent speculation WA-based Curtin is not homesick and is keen to establish a long-term career in Adelaide.
As a player who came into the system having played key back as well as midfield in his senior year, it was always going to be a challenge to find his niche as an AFL player.

Adelaide hoped he might be a first or second defender given his size at 197cm but after two AFL games where some of his defensive efforts were exposed he has returned to the SANFL.

Adelaide is trying to play him higher up the ground to get the ball into his hand as a superb ball user, aware he is likely to emerge as a third defender rather than miserly, stopping key back.

He only had 13 possessions against South Adelaide in his last outing but with a plan established for the way forward both player and club believe a return to the AFL is not far away.
Where are all the posters and journos who said we should have drafted Dan Curtin to address our KPD issues?

This is not a dig at Dan Curtin BTW more vindication for our recruiting team who saw him for what he is a third tall / rebounding defender.

I dunno.

Tell him that he's worth more to us than what the market is offering, and offer him another two years?

He might be happy to stay and play VFL, who knows?

He'd be aware of the pecking order at North and his place in it. I'd another team sold him on a role, he probably should go for it.

He should be eyeing shiels spot soon

What did we give up for Jon hay? What bout to get Corey mcketnan back?

Hay? Out of all the possible examples you use Hay? How long ago was that?

Both would be worth nothing more than a second rounder each. Simple. And they'd be worth even less if there was some sort of need for a salary dump involved as well.

Multiple firsts! Hahahaha

No I would want a pick in mid 20s at least
High draft pick that hasn’t come on as hopes for whatever reason - is he worth more on the market than Billings?

I hope he stays and reaches his potential at North - the fact these guys are never worth as much out there as fans hope is one reason.

He's worth less than Billings. And Billings is no good.

The offers we get - if any - will reflect his value.
... first law of capitalism: something is worth what's someone's prepared to pay, not what the seller puts on the sticker

As unpleasant as it is, I suspect potential suitors will be circling to pick Phllips up as a DFA

wouldnt it be something in line with what we gave up for Dylan Stephens? whats the difference?

You keep suggesting this but I don't understand it.

Shiels plays mainly as a defensively minded mid with good ground coverage and provides an experienced head to guide the younger troops. Phillips does not address those requirements.

Unless Will is exploring a flank, he has take a spot off another inside mid.

Excluding LDU because of his running capacity, that puts Will head to head with Wardlaw or Powell.
