If it end up being 10 and 11 with 23 coming back, 23 is the first pick on night 2 of the draft, so we could get a significant pick for it during the overnight trade shenanigans they do

Really?! That doesn't sound good. You got more specifics...game, opposition, year, quarter?I sat there and watched him tear strips off some young Richmond player for daring to cut in front of him and get his first AFL goal , the whole rest of the Tigers were giving him the ol attaboy and Bolton was going apeshit at the kid …. one of the most floggish things I’ve ever seen a player do in footy
Throwing in the towel when things aren’t going his way is another criticism you hear about him a lot
the showing the ball running into goal bullshit
Maybe we need a bit of arrogance in the team but it’s a pretty delicate balance
Most of the Tiger fans saying we’d be mad not to take this deal spent all of last year hating on the bloke and are secretly chuckling behind their hands
50/50 wether this deal is what everyone hopes for or just another in our long list of trade disasters for mine

Probably not.Am I the only one who would prefer we just hold onto the picks and select another three first rounders?
He needs to get back on the bone broth though if his bones are fragile again. Last thing we need is his legs snapping again. There was a picture of Pearce holding a decent sized Snapper with his arm that was injured. He has a nice scar but I’m sure all will be fine.
the issues is that Bolton fits a massive need. if it was any average joe most would be happy to hit draftAm I the only one who would prefer we just hold onto the picks and select another three first rounders?
The accepted wisdom is you build your list from the draft and then pivot to trading in when you're entering your window to maximise a push to the summit. This strategy appears to suit the aggressive goal setting from management.
I'd prefer to to simply making value based decisions rather than trying to time the market.
Bolton will be 26 next year. He's played 135 games over 8 seasons. Optimistically We would get 6 years and 120 games out of Bolton. I think there is more long term value in picks 9&10 or 9&16.
AFL is a funny business where winning a premiership is all that ever matters. It makes arguments like overpaying for Bolton is the right play given our window. For what it's worth, Brisbane's premiership team had one first year player, two second year players and two third year players.

when a match winner like bolton become available you have to try to get him

If we manage to pick up Bolton v2 in the draft with one of those picks & the other is a bust. It will take 3-4 years for him to emerge at an elite level. We then lose Pearce / Ryan so need more elite talents.Am I the only one who would prefer we just hold onto the picks and select another three first rounders?

Isn't his weakness his kicking? Last thing we need in our team is more bad kicking. What's with all the love for Allen?
Surely we have more pressing needs with half backs, small and mid sized forwards?

Right? Every chance Allan turns into Blakely 2.0Isn't his weakness his kicking? Last thing we need in our team is more bad kicking.
Whoever we draft good skills have to be a priority. We have too many in our side with iffy disposal by foot as it is. We need class.Right? Every chance Allan turns into Blakely 2.0
Good at winning the inside ball but absolutely butchers his disposals by foot.

The time to pivot to trading is now imo. There's no doubt Bolton will maximise our push, he's a bloody good player, potentially one of the best in the comp when on with his best ahead of him. He will be bloody good for us, exciting times.Am I the only one who would prefer we just hold onto the picks and select another three first rounders?

We lose Pearce and Ryan but we replace them with Murphy/Draper/Davies who all look like developing into good players. If we manage to pick up Bolton v2 in the draft with one of those picks & the other is a bust. Young talent look good since they offer more than expected, the load is carried by the experienced players (FS guns being an exception). We need to compress our talent into the 21-26 age bracket and have a great 5-6 year go at winning a flag. Join us
He surfs too?He does literally everything better than Blakely FFS.
