Can we just bid on Champion now and hope they match with their no picks!

The default being that if they don’t match Champion becomes a gun small!

Oh my golly. I’m too giddy with how they’ve gone about this.

All the moving parts like a domino effect of getting worse!

Owies? I can’t even bring myself to stop laughing that Owies was the forgot breaker on 12&14 for 3.

Please please please can we get Bolton for 10 and 18 and unexpected value back our way.

The eagles trade feels like when someone has to manufacture a question (what to do with pick 3?) to justify the answer (Liam Baker).

I also think we need to trade pick 11 for a future first from north if we are serious about getting Chad
Why?

Once Warner picks a club, it's irrelevant what the other club has.

Plus we'll have 2025, 26 & 27 first rounders to play with.

Lucky WC has pick 12. That is the part of the draft they work their best magic.

Pick 14 Campbell Chesser
Pick 13 Jarrod Brander
Pick 13 Daniel Venables
Pick 11 Liam Duggan
Pick 11 Dom Sheed
Outside of the 2017 Draft and Pick 1 last year their drafting across the board has been really average. They've hit maybe one pick a year?

Pick 3 for 12 plus a 27 year old midget plus a 28 year old midget who was about to be delisted. If that's not hilarious enough, there is a net pick 60 to get Carlton over the line. This has to be the most comical trade I can ever remember.

They don’t even leave them the sprinkles that fell on the plate!

Don't say I didn't warn you.

It's like WC are so self aware that their drafting has been bog average that they'd rather just trade for established players instead

Like watching a car crash in slow motion this. I'm gonna sit down with my morning coffee and check out the Eagles board

WC are a complete rabble if they do this. First the Tim Kelly disaster, then they trade out of Harry Sheezel, now they trade out of what will likely be another jet at pick 3.

The other problem is if they overpay and bring in these role players like Baker and Owies they won't nessesarily get younger, and the jump in short-term performance may mean they start to miss out on the absolute pointy end of the draft. Their list profile isn't at the point yet that they can afford to do this if their intention is to properly bottom out whilst cutting back the remaining deadwood.

I think we're witnessing the emergence of a failed rebuild and I'm looking forward to watching with popcorn in hand. McQualter getting the sack after 3 or 4 years (rebuild coaches don't survive) and Reid heading back to Victoria will be the cherry on top!

I'd rather improve our 2025 list than stock up for something that might not happen.

Remember last year we were talking about Logan McDonald? Sure Shai Bolton popped but McDonald didn't happen despite half of the AFL media (especially in WA) thinking it was happening.

We'll find a way to get Warner done if the possibility is there next year. Got a feeling we'll be trading picks Picks 10 & 11 (and other picks) and getting pick 14 back which would mean we've got two firsts this year and not much restrictions on trading in 2025 and 2026.

Exactly, play what's in front of you right now.

I'd suggest also possible they've interviewed the kids they rate around pick three and all of them have indicated they don't want to come to west coast. In which case moving puck three back makes sense, but how they've done it is awful

Feels like a lot of people are counting their chickens before they hatch considering the Bolton trade hasn't finalized.
it almost doesn't matter?

worst case scenario is we go to to what is consensually considered one of the best drafts in years, with depth all the way to 25, with 3 picks in the top 20

that's not a bad we-don't-get-Shai outcome, imo

the funniest part is, the Richmond board is turgid at their fat draft hand, which includes the 11 they have presumed they're getting from us in addition to 10 and 18, lol

Walls must be having the best morning.

11 & 67 -> North F1 & 44 (likely in the 30’s on draft night)

10, 18, 30, 44

Then Baker and Owies help WC win more games than North in 2025 and we have a better pick than them for Chad. Plus Bolton is disgruntled and comes for our 2025 R1.
