Game Day 2024 Trade Period

Called this the day Daniher retired. It’s one of the most obvious moves in footy right now for 2025.

Lions are specialists in this type of deal. They will be all year wooing him across as a free agent.
Diehard eagle supporter and their skipper

Eagles would have to push him out big time

Haven’t had a chance to comment on the Bolton trade all week. Actually had to do some work this week of all weeks 😂

Overall I think we paid overs, but can understand the logic. Thought walls probably folded slightly when you consider nearly every other deal on Tuesday went to the last half hour and was settled for pretty much the original speculated price.
Tigers would have taken 10 & 18 for sure by 7:10pm on Wednesday.

However a slide from 11 to 14 isn’t too bad when you add the F3, though the hyper inflated values on picks 10-15 in this particular draft make me think we’d be paying a lot more than F3 if we wanted to move up from 14 to 11.
If we’d swapped pick 30 for 24 as well in the overall deal it would have been just about right.

Anyway it is what it is. Down to Bolton now to perform to close to his best - if he does it will be a win for us. No doubting his talent - has he still got that inner drive and desperation that is required to play a big role in a flag win for freo? Time will tell

As for 14 and 30 in the draft, we are clearly looking at forward half talent based on Walls interviews (thankfully) so I think something like Berry or Hannaford at 14 then Hamish Davies or Datolli at 30 is likely. Hopefully we’ll have a pick in the late 50s too.

The F3 of Richmond could be very handy if we get to pick 25/26 on draft night and there’s someone on the board we can trade up for from 30 using the F3.

I don't see it with Datolli, tbh. Just looks like a guy who's too small to play inside mid.

I saw a phantom draft with an Evan Bradley in the top 30, supposedly a small forward from South Australia I believe, but stuffed if I can find any footage of him.
His best game was Sth Australia vs Allies, if you want to watch that or the highlights of it.

5 Evan Bradley (North Adelaide)
Small Forward | 174cm | 17/01/2006

Stats: 10 disposals, 2 marks, 3 goals

Said to be a player who gains confidence from early scores, Bradley would have been full of beans after his two opening quarter goals. The classy small forward displayed sharp finishing skills to split the big sticks with the inside and outside of his boot, before levelling the scores with a third major over the mark in term three. In between, the North Adelaide prospect worked high up the ground and backed his speed en route to goal, even helping himself to a few running bounce

Would mean WC get that extra first round pick. 2 and 3, 14 and 15 and still no Chad Warner

Brought in McDonald and Voss last year. Both good depth. Quite a few clubs will squeeze players out they would like to keep.
And both of those pickups looked like good depth selections, it was just a shame that McDonald copped a long term injury that seemed to be different to his past history, although I guess some players are just more prone to that.

He is full of shit, and to be a fair a few have called him out on it. The last bit of "intel" I read from him was some crap about how the AFL has offered him an amazing well paid job which he turned down. Quite often he can't say too much just in case he's being watched - the guy is full of crap.
What a flog
Fits in perfectly over there and those muppets lap it up
Hilarious 😆

A tidbit worth noting from Walls' SEN WA interview regarding list changes:

"There's a few little bits and pieces to play out. Unfortunately we've got a couple players that are hanging that we'll have to have conversations with them. Not everyone will go on next year but there may also be a few players that we need to move from the senior to the rookie list. Overall it's not gonna be a huge change this year for us which is nice." (Several ums and ahs redacted, and a massive run on sentence even by my standards has been broken up.)

Judging by some of the reporting on Inside Trading, fairly safe to presume it's Knobel and Emmett who stay on, with 1 or both of them re-rookied. And then Odin Jones gets cut, which would be incredibly harsh but allows for list flexibility. Whichever way you shift the senior players to the Cat A rookie list, btwn those 2 lists we have 3 list spots if none of them 3 are delisted and have to draft a minimum of 3 players (a lot of 3s).
If Odin is gone I'm hoping Gerreyn gets to our 2nd.

I would rather cut Emmett than Odin Jones. We know what we get from Emmett and bringing in Bolton and having Sturt doesn't leave much room for Emmett. Jones missed a lot of footy through that extended concussion and as a 19 year old has a lot of upside. Big bodied aggressive players that can roost the ball long and accurate don't grow on trees. Give him another year. With development can play KPF (not really required), Ruck or KPD if we need to find a replacement for Pearce, Cox or Ryan.
