Very tall forward line is asking our mids to do extra running to cover for a lack of forward flankers, and allows the opposition to run the ball out of their D50 very easily.

Could be the beginning of Smith applying pressure on Oscar for the number one ruck mantle? Fourth year in the system so has had plenty of time - although i can't pretend to have been watching him closely - what do others think about how ready he would be?

Can they send Lane to the QAFL?
I'm not sure how that would work?

Today though, (from what I can tell) we have Fort (#1 Ruck), Lane (Fwd/ Ruck), Smith (Fwd/Ruck), Lloyd (Fwd), Ryan (Fwd) and Morris (Fwd).

Wont happen every week but it isn't the most functional forward line.

Will be interesting if we pick Gillet from the academy this year. Surely Lane would be moved on if that's the case? Perhaps Lloyd or Morris might eventually be moved back?

That was so classy from Reece Torrent, one of those players that makes time for himself.
Has something about him doesn't he. Really reliable kick too.

It does seem we are just too tall.

Not sure what the solution is - definitely one giant should always be on the bench, but surely we need to stick one of the forwards in the backline. they can rotate perhaps.

Missed a lot of shots on goal that an U16 player would be upset about missing. Having said this, there have also been quite a few low percentage attempts as well.

On the structural side, on the proviso that I am watching on the stream and could be way out. There is also at least one free North player on the fat side that we fail to pick up/cover. This can be a problem for the AFL team as well and the ball slingshots straight out of forward 50. Transition defence is generally poor from the midfield.

He’s close but maybe next year more realistic. I would say the areas to work on would be his tank, competitiveness in the ruck and then follow up stuff. He hasn’t rucked a lot in the past. Seemed to have been pigeon holed into forward position but this year he’s definitely getting more ruck minutes and seems to be doing well.

Lloyd back would be good for his development. I think that position might actually be more suited to him long term. Similar size to Lester so could be that third tall depth/ replacement back there

Well in the game but both coaches would like a better defense.
North started missing a few goals maybe we might start kicking some.
Lions 33 to Nth 17, I50's surly we just need to start converting some opportunities.
Our strong midfield with 21 to 9 clearances to half time will keep us in the game, but things need to turn around scoring wise.
Norths tackling may drop off a bit.
Tackles to half time, North 40 (season average 57) to Lions 28 (season average 52)
