Ain't Ivan Starr 2025 draft? Looks exciting from what I've seen (mostly by accident when watching South Freo colts for Toby Whan).
Not sure. Haven’t looked that deep.

Year 12 though

Re: Ivan Starr.

Had a foot injury and something else that kept him off legs for a bit.

Back running now and won the 100, 200, 400 & 800m at the latest school carnival. (Not sure what the competition was like, but still).

Trying to find out if Freo have had a chat, but there is interest there.

Related to Bolton. Could be a good rookie pick.

Langford got 33 and 4 playing league last week?

He’s in my top 5. I think he’s big enough and strong enough that he’ll be a very good player, but some have him ranked lower down because of his speed - or lack of.

Should be gone by the time we pick, whenever that may be. But even then, I’d rather more run and speed for our midfield mix.

Ah...I wouldn't get too attached to anyone predicted to go inside the first 40 picks.
Let's hope the next two years worth of NGAs produce some gems. We really need to pour some money into talent identification. With the new rules, we will be competing with the Eagles for the best indigenous talent.

Hamish Davis, playing in the WAFL elimination final against East Freo as a half forward flank, is 17 possessions and 2 goals at three quarter time. His agility has really impressed me in this game, field kicking has been good, he has had a go at a couple of hard shots and mucked them up though. Only the 1 tackle.

Maybe I am being profane but I feel he has way more x factor than Bo Allan, at least as a front half player?

Yeah, I'd take him ahead of Allan for sure, and I think that might happen now. Hard to ignore a BOG in a WAFL league final to back up a great performance last week. Would probably be the player I'd be hoping for the most if we have any picks left after trade week.

Where do you see him going in terms of draft range?

Sounds exactly the type we should be looking at. We don’t draft near enough forward half players with high picks, maybe we can find an early second rounder from somewhere to get him in the door.

I havent seen Davies in the top 25 in any mocks.

I'm not sure if I'm the first, likely not, but there's a fair bit of early Fyfe in him, very very smart around the ball, takes a good mark (not as good as Fyfe) kicks a better goal than Fyfe (tho Fyfey was great in the Colts GF). Not sure if he'll grow into Fyfe size, but hes already 190 - so might still grow. Looks pretty quick to. I just love that he seems to know how to kick goals - he did it at states and is continuing on. He should have had five/almost six (one touched on the line) and the other was a set shot that didn't miss by too much - so six in the league is pretty special. When on all in his last colts game he had 40 possies, so plays midfield as well. In the end he was third for possies (iirc) from the footballers graveyard - hff

Ended up 21 poss and 4 goals. Played six games and kicked 7 goals. All 7 in the last 2 games

Just seen footage of his 4 goals. Looks a decent player alright.

I can’t help notice he’s got a weird ball drop though when kicking. That might put some recruiters off.
Then again so does Fyfey 😂

An excellent performance that proved Hamish Davis has what it takes to make the step to finals footy and not just meet the level but thrive. Playing his typical high half forward role, his tank and work rate was a feature as was his ability to play at high pace with clean hands. He might have had even more than 4 goals in this game if he hadn't missed a couple of gettable opportunities, a reminder that his variable kicking technique is the one thing that might hold him back from shooting up into first round contention even with his late season surge in form.

I was having a look at the U16 Championship replays and the Robinson hype may be justified. You can see why under 16 form doesn't translate all that well to under 18: All the kids were enormous. Clearly the more talented players who are less physically developed catch up a fair bit in the two subsequent years. Anyway Robinson wasn't as big as I was expecting from all the write ups. Looked like he had a fair bit of growth left in him. He also looked a level above most of the players out there. A genuine talent. (This is just off the first 10 minutes of 1 quarter. I'm not committed enough to sit through any more.)

Before you ask they are all here:

First time watching him a bit though I look forward to seeing how he goes against Peel this weekend.

Man, he has such a good footy brain and is so clean off the ground with good enough pace but that kicking...

Very interested to see where he goes.

Watching that video, his arms are double the size of Fyfe's at the same age. He's going to be a monster.

Chris you must have some strange feelings towards this draft.

Freo have 3 first rounders and an early second, in a very deep draft, yet we look like trading away most of the picks.

All your research just for us to possibly not use any haha

The problem for me is more list spots rather than where we’ll end up picking.

For me the top 10 is good without the real standout prospects. And then the next 10 or so aren’t that far behind. But it’s in that second to third round mix where the good recruiters will be able to unearth some value. Looking just at PM’s rankings, four of the guys I’d want most for Fremantle are in his 25 to 30 range - Hamish Davis, Kayle Gerreyn, Angus Clarke and Cooper Hynes.

If you can transition the likes of Aish and Banfield to depth players, then it’d be a good year to empty out the back of the list and clear the rookie list too. I wouldn’t really be wanting to trade in anyone who isn’t an automatic best 22 player.

I don’t mind if we trade away all our firsts, but I’d still like us to be taking 4 or 5 picks across the drafts.
