Suddenly from unranked last month he rised to rank 30 in Twomey's ranking. may rise up again. we may need at least Port pick 16 to get him? Because 16 may become 20 and Kai Lohmann was taken Pick 20 as well?In rookie me central... the player they likened to Kai Lohmann is Ollie Hannaford !!!!!!
Well there you go!!In rookie me central... the player they likened to Kai Lohmann is Ollie Hannaford !!!!!!
They took him one pick before Matt Johnson. Would have been fascinating to see if we’d have picked Kai Lohmann instead if he’d been still there at 21.Suddenly from unranked last month he rised to rank 30 in Twomey's ranking. may rise up again. we may need at least Port pick 16 to get him? i read about Kai Lohmann in 2021 prior to draft as an X factor player. I thought we would take him at some point but Twomey selected him much lower. So I hoped we may get either him or any other X Factor player bit late in the draft if we are lucky. But Brisbane selected him early...They took him one pick before Matt Johnson. Even Kysaiah Picket was not in Twomey's Top 30 ranking in AUG SEP OCT when I checked. But he appeared at rank 30 in NOV.But Melbourne reached him at pick 12? As you said we should take Hannaford at any pick we have if we rate him.i read about Kai Lohmann in 2021 prior to draft as an X factor player. Exactly, if Pickett is off the table this year then get Berry.Gun small forwards have become so critical in the modern game.
All the good teams are chock full of them, along with damaging half forward flankers.
We need more than just Bolton. Our other options are grim by comparison to the top sides.
If we could find a way to draft hannabury and berry, plus get Bolton in, I would not be opposed to it.
For too long we have not paid respect to this crucial area of the ground in recruiting.
Did you just quote yourself to agree?Even Kysaiah Picket was not in Twomey's Top 30 ranking in AUG SEP OCT when I checked. But he appeared at rank 30 in NOV.But Melbourne reached him at pick 12? As you said we should take Hannaford at any pick we have if we rate him.
No-one in the AFL media wants to talk about it but the difference between the Grand Finalists and the losing preliminary finalists is literally the academies. The afl.com.au report of the grand final yesterday says Hannaford was the best player in the losing team. Everyone raves about Berry, but I suspect Hannaford might go past him. He has better speed, agility, explosiveness, aggression. He is also versatile, having been switched from defence, and yesterday he played midfield. My ideal draft haul is Hannaford and one of Davis/Hynes. We need medium forwards as much as small forwards.
Side rant ... Brisbane's rorting will continue this year. Ashcroft BOG with 27 and 3 goals. Marshall not far behind with 28 and 2 goals. They also have a potential top 10 academy pick next year. Absolute joke.

It takes big Vic clubs complaining.Oh man don’t get me started
I mean I can actually handle GWS and GC getting academy gifts still(they really shouldn’t either)but I can at least accept it due to their relative recent entry to the comp , in non football states and be actual “new clubs”
But in what world do ****en Brisbane and Sydney deserve to still have priority access to theirs??
Both aren’t even “new franchises “ not just in the sense of when they first entered the comp but the fact that are RELOCATED clubs with over 100 years of history
All we keep hearing fromAFL house is “oh they need academies to mitigate the go home factor (lol)/ help establish brand in non traditional state…
my question is So when exactly IS long enough enough?
I mean if Brisbane and Sydney are still getting leg ups 30/40 years on from when they first started does that apply to to their two new neighbour clubs?
Clearly making finals and GFs is not even close for the AFL to act so Does it take them a dynasty till AFL say yea alright that’s enough?
No current season stats available
Jeez, Cody Curtin is huge up close. His shoulders are ridiculous
Kelly looks a class above at that level.Swans tried hard around the ball and I thought often put in more effort; Kelly and Contellessa were standouts for mine around the ball.
ICurtin, unlike his brother is a more beefy type and was dynamic higher up the ground at times. Kelly as I said is likely to attract a lot of interest next year if he continues his progression.
Higgins?I think we are going to get around 5 years more service, including his prime years, out of Jackson than Geelong get from either of those recruits.
Hill wasn't brought in during a rebuild, but for what we paid for him, who cares. He was a bargain. He was traded out during a rebuild: perfect timing. Classic example of buy low sell high.
Whinging about players like Kersten and Colyer is legit but is very much a small change argument. Geelong have recruited experienced players like Stevens, Dalhaus, Henderson and Jenkins who have been nothing players for them.
All well and good but we are entering our window now and have list gaps to fill.I just don't think we will find that middle ground. I think we will massively overpay.
The draft looks incredible, and it reminds me so much of the 2018 draft where we could have had pick 5 and 6, instead walked away with Hogan, Lobb and Sturt.
I am backing pick 9 and 17 (or what ever we trade him for) to have a better career than Bolton.
Sorry 2018 draft.
AA caliber? He has only shown that form once when coming out of contract, and the rest of the time he is 30-35 goal a year forward. Everyone thinks he will turn it on for us. I doubt he will.
Not the perfect position need either. We need Pickett, he would be perfect. Bolton plays higher, provides less pressure but can run through the middle.
You forgot Lobb.
Happy to target players, but you need to target the right one, and get them when they are out of contract.
Ideally, you don't trade them out in a strong draft as well.
Serious question.
What do you expect from Bolton next year?
Where will he play? Forward pocket, half forward, percentage of midfield time?
What is the pass mark for him in terms of goals, goal assists, pressure?
I am expecting a 30-35 goal a year season, where he provides little pressure. Gets 40% of his goals of other peoples work, and he misses 25-30 shots at goal.
He play 20% of his time in the middle, looks good if he gets the ball, but does chase hard defensively.
That is a decent player, but not worth anywhere near a million dollar a year or pick 9 and 10.
