At our first pick Lindsay or Berry, happy with Gerryn next, and they must see silky skills in Carr…. So start the Carr.

Good haul if it happens.

Prefer Lindsay over Berry by the way but I’ve been a bad judge in the past and in Walls I trust

The latest phantom draft from The Age with information gained from recruiters. A few mentions of how Freo could trade up for St Kilda's 2nd top 10 pick. It's mentioned it would likely be for Bo Allan. Personally think Travaglia would be the other option if we did trade up

Also, among the players linked to freo in the second round are Cooper Hynes (Richmond, Port, Freo), Angus Clarke (Freo)

Do we have enough to move up to 8? Would 14 + F1 get it done?

Would you be content with Fremantle making that trade if it were the other way around? A six place slide for a future first?

I think our board will be upset if we pay that much to move up to pick a player that doesn't really fit an immediate need - then if/when Bo turns into a gun midfielder/half back we will look at it as massive value.

Can’t touch that f1 it’s either going to The Chad or Kozzie.
With Sparkle around and less cap my guess would be Kozzie.

Makes you wonder if Berry is as much of a need

Bigger picture I'd struggle to see how we'd give up 10 and 11 to then trade 14 back up to 8 for a F1.

Any chance we're doing StK a solid, if StK want to split 8 and we've got the pick directly before GWS take 15 and 16? Make some noise StK are open to splitting 8, we're narrowing it down to GWS preferred target(s)?

Cal mentioned on Gettable Wednesday that we are trying to bundle 14 + 30 to move up. So is St Kilda happy to slide back 6 spots to add pick 30? Potentially if they want a player that will be there later. Also the option of future pick swaps to add in

I think F1 is untouchable for us considering players like Chad and Kozzy could be gettable.

I just can’t , for the life of me , understand how , after giving up 10/11 (without too much fight let’s be real here)to slide back to 14 … to only then , seek to trade BACK up , during the actual draft itself no less ,when you can be assured theres always at least a 20% surcharge (probably 30+ % in this draft) … and finally all for Bo Allan, who’s a player /even on projection in areas we already have great developing depth??

Other than wallsy perhaps trying to play 4d chess (fair chance tbh)in the hope the “chatter” panics a team into picking another player (not just Allan) that in turn see the player we really want possibly sliding ??

Outside of that ,can someone make sense of it all for me?

I doubt we know how much we fought or didn't. Clearly getting Bolton was the number one priority and then take it from there. Seems the latter is where we are at now.

While I agree for the most part, only thing I'll disagree with is that moving up in this draft actually seems cheaper than normal. Buying in with a future - expensive as ****, moving up within the draft - cheaper than normal

I’d consider trading up to secure Lindsay - he’s still my #1 for us, nothing much has changed all year there. I’d hate to see him go to West Coast. Alternatively, I’d consider doing it for Travaglia.

But I suspect if anyone does it, it’ll be GWS.

My concern at trading up would be losing our second rounder though. It’s shaping up as a key pick - even before the Jones injury, I had young KPF fairly high on our list of needs and it’s looking like there’ll be a run on around picks 25-40. So we could get a quality prospect. Alternatively, drop back a bit from there and get good trade value.

Would I trade up for Allan? I wouldn’t personally. He’ll be a good player no doubt, just don’t think he’s really what we need. I’d rather sit back and get whoever is left out of Lindsay, Berry, Reid and Hotton.

If it helps, some rumours going that we REALLY like Lindsay and he honestly does seem very much like a Walls type. I reckon that's who we'd take if we moved up

I have no inside news, but I reckon there’s talk of us wanting to trade up and then reporters just assuming it’s for Allan.

There was some talk earlier of GWS wanting to get up for either Travaglia or Lindsay. So I don’t think we’ll be alone.

Lindsay reads like Hayden Young

Is it really cheaper?

Draft night trade ups are generally outrageously priced.

If we trade up for a player we like have no issue with that but would frustrate the hell out of me given we already had 11 in our hand and folded to Richmond on deadline day rather easily.

Needed to do an Andrew Mackie at Geelong on it and just sit their smugly waiting for the opposition list manager to fold like he does every year.

We seem to do fantastic work building these picks through shrewd trading, but it doesn’t mean they should then be cheaply tossed away without much resistance.

Anyway maybe it’s just smoke and mirrors to wrongfoot another team on draft night 💁🏻‍♂️
