Durdin has been in the system a long time with form & durability issues, surely we can find a younger & better option, as others have mentioned time to move on from him at his age.

Name one that can step up now when we are in the window.

I hope we can get someone. I think Durdin has ability but as I have said many times I don't care how good you are if you can't get on the park you are wasting a valuable spot

The fact is Durdin has been delisted. He now doesn't have a spot. If we were convinced he was the answer we would have given him another year straight away. They are giving him the pre season to prove himself. It's still a long shot to happen.

We need someone to step in for Weitering if needed. The role is vital. IMO Young is not an genuine option and we are trialling Jack back there. Who else do we have as a genuine taller big bodied defender?

The club will be looking at every option possible. We have spoken with Phillips & DGB and others. It's about covering every base before finalising spots. It's smart and what should happen. IMO it's something we should have done last pre season and didn't

I agree & personally I don't think he's afl quality. Don't know why we persist with him 🤔

Happy to move on but give me another option?

Issue is it's such a vital role. We need someone to back up Weitering if he gets injured or needs a rest. Happy to move on from Durdin but we need "someone"

As I said before we should be looking at everyone and giving Durdin a pre season to prve himself in case we can't find anyone is smart. If he breaks down again in pre season or we find someone else what have we lost?

What about James Van Es as that defensive piece. Been held back by an ankle injury, but the screws have been removed and he’s had a season of rehab. Good size, only 20 and was rated in his draft year.

The slight on him is his athleticism, which - to me at least - is a problem because he's be backup for Weitering rather than seeking to fill the second KPD role. The only way it'd work - for me - is if you took Weits out of a defending role and instead plonked him in Gov's role, which - frankly - could absolutely work but still leaves us needing a second KPD.

By “rate”, I don’t mean “think he’s the second coming of Stephen Silvagni”. I mean rate him as a clubman, and as a break in case of emergency backup. Again, no guarantee a DGB gives you that
Club and coaches loved Marchbank, but you can't persist with injury prone players for so long

I rate Durdin as a break glass option, but his body has been made of glass

If the coaches didn't rate him they wouldn't have invited him back for a trial

This is about fitness & injury. Nothing more, nothing less

Plenty of players get the opportunity as train on players, and while they rate him as a decent back up, they aren't comfortable with his ongoing injuries, hence the delisting

They also have an eye on a couple of other mature age players and a couple of tall kids late in the draft

Your best ability is your availability…
Like that one, very apt for the CFC

Marchy seems cooked, and concussion/s were the latest to the injury history pile-on.
Be interested to see if he puts his hand up to play again, or his AFL retirement beckons (someone alluded to this late in the year).

It all depends on Nigel’s input from the Inness arrival and a bit of personal luck. He is the most viable option for us down back, if he can remain out on the park.

See what the ND can reign in for a quality KPD (late pick however) but they will be in for VFL development first & foremost.

Watch this space. Sounds like a VFL signing to see how he comes on.
