Yeap, I'd rather look at a Jeka, Foster, or Phillips
Durdin "may" get his body right, but others have a better history of durability and more versatility

There's a reason why there's multiple delisting deadlines. Lots of things to balance.

They can be, I’d just like to see the club go down the same path as the other injured players we cut ties with, whether it’s Phillips or another KPD that has some maturity and ability to cover as a backup, we might find ourselves with a reliable & solid depth KPD backup…
Guess we’ll find out soon enough…
The problem for me is recurring issues with long layoffs only at VFL level, personally we should have moved him on last season…
Certainly need better durability and versatility, hoping the team can identify someone to replace him as a solid backup…

Parfitt is what we need less of. He is a butcher of the highest order
Can we rookie Fanta (example), or was the deadline 31-Oct for all that activity - hence the recent delistings and moves like Jack Gunston to be shuffled off to the rookie list?
They obviously feel it’s worth a shot. We don’t know where he sits fitness wise. For all the opinions on here the club and coaches rate him
If he does a full pre season then “maybe” it’s worth it.
What it says to me is we don’t see much else available that we rate that can play the same role
My take is I think he is purely being looked at as back up for Weitering in case he is injured. He hasn’t been signed yet and has to get through next three months to prove himself.
Long long way to go
To be fair, there is a distinct possibility we have always wanted to re-rookie Durdin.
By historic rules, a player has three years only on the rookie list before needing to be either elevated or delisted. An adjustment to the laws allowed for a player who has played less than 10 games to be extended further, which could have benefitted Nigel in the short term.
If a player is re-rookied after delisting, the meter is reset, allowing a further three years on a rookie list.
Realistically, it could be seen that a draftee KPD would be better served playing under the mentorship of an experienced old hand like Durdin in the twos than beside a 21-22 yo focussed on forging a career for himself and still learning the game.
Our club has a fairly obvious shortage of leadership across the list. The departure of Marchbank leaves a big hole in the back half for our developing defenders, sorry, but Lewis Young does not exude mentor vibes. Haynes adds to our profile, but I suggest he has not been recruited to play twos. More to fill a void while a kid develops.
If circumstances allowed, I would love to see Austin and co. take two throws at the stumps for young KPD in the National draft and/or rookie draft. Keeping a Sam Durdin around would facilitate this, as opposed for reaching for a young player rejected by another club.
I like the profiles of Ethan Phillips and Denver Grainger-Barras on face value, but if they are “flawed” and are only ever going to be depth, there is a good argument to retain Nigel and develop our own. We armchair recruiters do not have the benefit of the due diligence a recruitment team can apply to prospective players.

31 October was 1st list lodgement.
It seems, unless they have made an unannounced change, that you can cut a player after the ND to take them in the Rookie Draft the next day.
Durdin has been in the system a long time with form & durability issues, surely we can find a younger & better option, as others have mentioned time to move on from him at his age.
