Haven't seen that in writing. And even so, wouldn't need to - just demonstrate that we could back end a few other deals to balance the books for years 1 and 2, and then years 3+ there's oodles of cap space cause 80% of the list aren't signed that far yet.

Wouldn't we also have to show that we have the cap space available (show that we have $1.7 mill available in 2026 for example) to be able to match a bid?
Can't see that the league would allow us to bluff our way through.

We started summer with two free spots. Carroll was an SSP pick, as was Evans. White replaced Smith, who went on to the Inactive list. Newman is still listed, but we could replace him in the MSD if it's determined he won't return this year.

Sorry I didn't mean that he was replacing Newman's list spot, rather that he was added to the list partially as a result of Newman being injured as he plays the same position.

We wont match TDKs bid unless it's comparable to ours, which is highly unlikely since he'd probably only leave for a much bigger offer.
If we tried to force a trade afl would be all over it. Would make FA a joke.
The Geelong situation witn Cameron and Dangerfield was different. Both got equal or lesser offers from Geelong then the club they were leaving.

I'm more concerned about us having to up our offer to keep him. I've said our list is too top heavy.
TDK is a difference maker, but there's a limit to what he's worth to us.

I could be wrong but I'm almost positive Geelong fans kicked up a stink because that's what occurred with the Cameron deal. Unfortunately we don't know how it all works with the finer details like that.
I’m almost certain that you don’t have to match the specifics if you pay the average each year, but you can’t back-end it to fake match

Would make matching a bid much easier in this sort of situation

I'm calling it now, we can't win a premiership without a bit of a revamp of the list. We need to keep or at least force a trade for TDK; and find one or two first round picks on top of what we may need for any F/S bids. We are a tease of a club who relies on too few to fire.

The small forwards are meant to be the ones delivering the ball inside 50. Just none of them can get near it.
Meant to do a bit of both. Think we rated tackling more highly than any other attribute.
I have no doubt whatsoever, Austin will have no choice but to change strategy
