It would be peak st kilda to loose one of the best kicks in the comp in Nas and then get a poor kick like bergman.
We are all going to be getting ulcers until NAS re-signs.

We constantly bemoan poor disposal yet we are then entertaining the idea of Bergman. That'll work.
Yes, that's what we're doing. Maybe if you say it once more it'll become more true.

Did some nice things, as usual always good one on one and took a couple of good intercept marks.

Unfortunately like always his only option by foot is long kick down the line which either ends up in a 50 50 or a direct turnover.

All in all a fairly typical game from him, defends as well as most but offensively fairly one dimensional. 6 turnovers and just the 2 score involvements. That was his career high disposals though.

I think he'd fit in well with Nas and Sinclair, playing Webster's or Stockers role where he's dishing it out, but for the price some are talking it scares me.

Cripps hates being the guy who wears the pressure by the look of it. He seems like someone with the weight of the world on his shoulders. He's a gun but has a vibe like someone who has been crushed under the weight of expectation.

I feel bad for Crippa. He stuck around and chose loyalty with the idea that they'd be peaking by about now and would have a list that didn't require him to be superman, but he's still having to have hercluean performances just to keep them in it or drag them over the line. After 2023 and their great 2024 start he would have been dreaming big, but now he probably feels like he's back to square one. He's the only player I want to see succeed at Carlton as I am from WA and have always loved his game and personality.

I find it funny what society deems as dickhead behaviour.

I’d argue strongly that cheating on your wife, and mother of your children is far more destructive than have substance issues.

The fall out, pain, and long term damage that cheating causes is potentially immeasurable and extends far beyond the individual.
While substance abuse impacts the family of the individual ultimately that person is the only one to suffer and has the opportunity to change it.
And what if you're drug habits cause your cheating habits?
What if you think you can get away with doing whatever you want?
A dickhead is usually a dickhead no matter what and generally incapable of change. They'll always relapse. That's why you stay the F*CK away from them.

Christian moraes really stood out to me last night for port. Was touted as an early draft pick to start last year but for some reason slipped in the draft. Covers the ground beautifully and skills by foot and descion making looked very good. 27 disposals in his second game just quietly

He has the best quarter of any player in the champs last year but was disappointing over all. I was see still. Had something about him.

He's been good for a few weeks in the AFL. Probably the best performed player from the last draft so far.

Not every player kicks the ball like Nas.

Doesn’t make People bad footballers.

Last week we used the ball like an elite side for 3/4. I've always been a bit non plussed about disposal in the past but I'm reformed. Football is so much easier if you don't turn the ball over every third time you get the ball. Especially reloading off HB. I'd rather feed Ari to be honest. If Berg turns over half his kicks his 25 possessions are only 12 effective.

Was there talk around Burgoyne possibly leaving the other day? Or did I miss read something?

Looks like he could be a very damaging player.

Going at 96% amd has 6 score involvements already. Probably been Ports best to tonight.

Would much prefer him.

It was a hard read.
The hardest part being the view of player managers about St Kilda
If you are a good player , your manager is advising you to use St Kilda to bump up the price but go elsewhere to have success.
So important we make finals this year. Playing finals twice in 3 years means we start to own our new narrative. Miss finals and the narrative lives on until after we have strung a couple of good years in a row.

Yep. It really changes quickly. I think we got a lot of fans after Ross got us into finals with a pretty young and ordinary side but then we followed it up the next season with that patch of footy where we tried to stem bleeding by playing one of the most depressing brands of football ever witnessed.

If we can sneak into the 8 playing footy like we did last week we will win over the journos again. I'm actually pretty pleased that the club seem to be focused on addressing the problems and not trying to pretend that nothing is wrong. Guru Ross says there are no mistakes, only learning opportunities. It's actually pretty accurate. Mistakes happen, you just don't want to keep repeating them.

We are miles ahead of where we were 5 years ago. We are spending on a footy department that is so far ahead of what we had. It might take a bit longer to gain trust this time but we've just got to keep pushing forward.

Can't kick for shit, no wonder Cornes was talking him up to leave for the Saints.

He's a good player, I just don't see why we need him. As I said before, you'd be getting a guy around Mason Wood level. A solid B who has the odd A game. If he was cheap you'd have a sniff but he's not someone you'd sell the farm for. I think Ari could develop into a similar player.

I would be a little worried if we weren't optimistic about a guy we just took at pick 8 in the draft.
Crazy isn't it? How useless would our list men look if 4 months after we drafted a defender (albeit a swingman) at pick 8, we were of the opinion that he would merely be a gop.

Why do people think we reached for him so hard? Because Spotty Twomey bestowed a trendy nickname upon his blonde bonce?

It’s funny because for a side to have good disposal efficiency you don’t need 23 elite kicks in the side every week, you just need the guys that aren’t elite kicks to know this and just take easy outlet options.

Still a hard read. Having to come to terms with being a bit of a unlovable hopeless case is embarrassing. It's at least been recognised and actioned now. We were like a bus with no brakes heading down a steep hill 5 years ago. They've done a mountain of work to get shit moving in the right direction and are now impatient for success. I'd rather be where we are now that about to sign Lethlean and Rath up to be the most powerful people in the footy department.
I hope this galvanises the coach and players to do everything they can to prove the rest of the AFL and particularly those slimy shitey agents and media loudmouths wrong.

Battle is gone now. Regardless of who is wrong or right, he's just another face of the enemy, and I honestly couldn't give a tinkers toss what his reasons were. Hawthorn are like that cousin or neighbour that succeeded where we failed and their continued one upping us just boils our bones. They need to be taken into the weeds and I hope we come out breathing fire against them and see how they stand up to being the Hunted rather than the Hunter. I can't wait until we play them.

If potential trades are too scared to join our club or be The Man, we don't want them. We want players with sack like Mattaes and Alixzander, like Darcy and Tobie, like Hugo and Hugh, like Chito and Windy, like Liam Henry and Messiah Wangering Miller and yes, even like Stocker, Byrnes and Jones. Players that will put the club on their backs and scrap for their reputation.

No one likes us, we don't care.

Edit: and I wouldn't be surprised if those gibbering turkeys McFarlane and Ralph, who have both always looked down on St Kilda, added the "they've only won one flag" chestnut themselves, rather than got that from any of the players or agents they spoke to. Tell me how relevant that history is to today's St Kilda? If any player includes that as part of their decision making process they're not for us.

Flipping babies

I rate him as our best pure talent since that Riewoldt era. He's only scratched the surface. He's going to be an absolute superstar. Happy to be bookmarked on this, he's a safe bet. I reckon he's Andrew McLeod mixed with Winmar quality.

If we let our one actually potential superstar walk out it's an absolute tragedy and an embarrassment to the club. Especially to get Bergman.
He took some good contested marks on the weekend.

Coming from an utter numpty but it’s about my team so he’s right this time

What he did do was make everything he did look exciting. After the beige Richo era a bit of disco glitter is exactly the medicine we need. If we can channel his brilliance and instil the discipline he really could be anything. What you don't want is a Jarrad Brennan where he had more flash and talent than 90% of the competition but couldn't find consistency.

Jeremy Howe and Aaron Naughton are probably the closest current players that would compare but neither have the extra X factor.
