Not that great a tackle - Dawson was still able to get the disposal away
Dawson missed a much better option by choosing to continue going forward.

He does. He’s not the ROB of 20/21 that used to clunk marks all the time.Do you doubt his intensity, commitment and willingness to have a go once he crosses the white line?
Coasting because Strachan is injured pure bs.

Well, my initial post was simply a response to Scorpus who compared Curtin to Fyfe, quoted Fyfe‘s 2nd year stats and then suggested that unless Curtin matches those stats in year 2 he is not going to be, or likely to be, elite. I fundamentally disagree with that logic. It over simplifies possible performance and career progression and player-to-player variances. Not worth arguing further me thinks. Over and out.The comparison is in terms of him growing into his tall body and be ready to go, not whether he’s going to be as good as either Fyfe or Bont. If he’s going to be an A grade mid, then there’s no reason that his progression shouldn’t align with Bont, noting he’s unlikely to be as good.
As a Lions member I managed to get 2 complimentary tix for the Norwood game. Not complaining at all but surprised they are freebiesAnd all the members of the other clubs as well.
Ideally Peatling ends up the best of the 3 recruits. He certainly has the potential and that’s a massive win for the team if soPeatlings a versatile player, who’s breaking out around the same age Dawson did at SYD
I only booked Bullies vs Lions at 7pm tonight and no issues (and no delays!)I got 10 tickets to crows
Plus a ticket to all Adelaide Oval games for my SMA Father in LAw.
No problems at all except once it timed out when payment was going through. I checked and the ticket was there and payment was charged. so all good.
Have to go through it again tomorrow. My wife wants to go to the Port, Collingwood and Bulldogs games. I told her Bulldogs would probably sell out today as its at Norwood oval.
Doesn’t Melbourne Grand Prix 4 day event all go on sale at ONE time? 300k+ tickets soldYou do get it about 260k tickets are being sold.
Give me one other event doing the same over two days in Australia - a large % of tickets will be bought today.
The same people are lining up at service SA tomorrow, to pay their rego.Heard news on radio people lining up at Ticketek. I thought it was online only.
Fyfe is a dual Brownlow Medalist, it’s not a sensible or reasonable comparison or benchmark.Well, my initial post was simply a response to Scorpus who compared Curtin to Fyfe, quoted Fyfe‘s 2nd year stats and then suggested that unless Curtin matches those stats in year 2 he is not going to be, or likely to be, elite. I feel your pain. The same happened to me last year. What a ****ing shit show. Error on seat selection, timeout on payment, didn't go through, back of the queue.
It’s the closest we’re going to get in terms of progression of tall midfielders. A young skinny Bont, still with growth to come.

Curtin could be anything. His career will either go one or two ways. 1. The club as well as Curtin see him as a C Cornes style CHB CHF and they bulk him up or 2. they see him as a potential tall big bodied midfielder and get his running game going by building his tank in preseason. Its going to take 2 to 3 of these pre seasons to build his tank to full time midfielder. But he will float between wing and the flanks in the mean time with pinch hitting roles. What about the Bont then? 194cm played 16 games in year 1 averaging 16 disposals and then 21 in year 2 averaging 21 disposals with 5 clearances. Bont was born late November too, so only 18 years and a 4 months old when his first season started. Curtin born early March, so about 8 months older. Fyfe may not have been a good comparison, but Bont is.
No its not.
Generally speaking - the bigger the body the longer the player is going to take.
Curtin was drafted at 197cm and 95kg. To my knowledge there hasn't been a midfielder drafted that is that size.
His size and weight is closest to Jordan Butts on our list. The dude is massive. To expect him to dominate in the midfield in his second season is ridiculous.
If he is going to play midfield he will need several preseasons to build his fitness to a level to play midfield. Even the elite mids of the competition took two seasons to become full time mids. Obviously some few exceptions but it would be bonkers to expect Curtin to have fitness to walk in to our midfield at this stage.
He does. He’s not the ROB of 20/21 that used to clunk marks all the time.
In 22 he got dropped, returned vs geelong. 28 touches 5 marks 47 hit outs.
In the (50 odd) games since he hasn’t been over 20 touches, and has only got the same number of hitouts and marks or better on a handful of occasions.
He plays like his spot isn’t under threat. Because it isn’t really.

Connor NashIt’s not an argument, I’m just proposing a better comparison than Fyfe. At least in my opinion. There’s not really anyone else to compare to, if he ends up being a 197cm mid, he’ll be the first.
No its not.

He is bloody 95kg. There is abolsutely no reason his progression SHOULD align with Bont.

Big Wooz with the Hattrick!
he certainly looked best there last year but admittedly didn't do that much in all honesty up forward - just better than anything else eg did he even take a lead up mark?Curtin is a forward IMO.
It was this board that levelled Curtin a KPDhe certainly looked best there last year but admittedly didn't do that much in all honesty up forward - just better than anything else eg did he even take a lead up mark?
thing is - has he ever played forward in his junior career? i thought it was KPD and/or on ball but agree he could be handy around goals esp if he can clunk some marks with his size
