He's contracted til the end of 26 and is coming off a mediocre year. Smart play.

Our main objective would be making sure we have enough points for mcguane depending how far he jumps up on draft boards this year. So either by trading in 2026 points into 2025, pick swaps or seeing if there are players that have interest elsewhere to accue picks.

I haven't seen any of the top 15 / 20 prospect lists that are published here and there (e.g. AFL.com) with him included on the lists at all, so he is probably still considered a 2nd rounder at best. Obviously it is the upcoming U18 season that is the important thing though.

Kevin Sheehan has him in the best 25 prospect, Same with rookie me. And that was for being 16 for most of the year.
There is just fair few interstate prospects that until now has pushed him down. But I think come end of the year, he'll be the top 12-15. Cal sees him as a first rounder, which is why he understood why we traded our 1st, as it would have been used on him anyway.

Probably better for us he goes later, given the new matching rules and less discount.
But that'll be up to him, lets see what kind of year he has.
