Barking up the right tree I think. Someone (or ones) who can help him channel his emotions productively and also help lead him towards his personal ambitions. Kirk is a good suggestion.

I think his actions this year showed a bit of arrogance that wasn't evident in prior years, and it feels as though most people have picked up on it this year.

In saying that, most people have been fairly supportive and understand that he's still young and that comes with maturity. And possibly some mentoring.
