I agree with you that he was not as influential as hickey but I’m also somewhat bias and in the minority that I think noble was right to start to phase Goldy out for our younger ruckman

We both agree. I have no issue with the passing of the baton idea (so to speak), but I don't think either of the other two are as good or will ever be as good as Goldstein.

I also feel Goldstein should stay with us and I have no issue with another 1 year deal, 2 maximum.

Hickey was the best ruckman on the ground on Sunday, hence why I find it a bit odd people think he played well. He was beaten.

It's interesting how people have different views on games.

I actually thought Hickey beat Goldstein and was more damaging yet here we are hearing he played a great game.

Maybe it sits somewhere in the middle, thought Goldstein did some very nice work, but I thought Hickey hurt us quite a bit.

Hickey played well. He'd have played far better against Xerri and CCJ.

Absolutely. I didn't say Goldstein played poorly, he was impressive (as always) at times as he is still clearly our best ruck option.

I'm simply pointing out that Hickey played very well, and hurt us more than I expected which I think people might be forgetting when judging Goldstein's game.

I was surprised how well Hickey was handling Goldie. Always rated Hickey as a hack but somehow at Sydney he's got his shit together.

Hickey's clearance work felt dominant to be honest while Goldy had some good impact around the ground for us.

Tends to agree,

But if another club offers 2yr playing + 1yr guarantee coaching spot … I reckon he’d take it

His professionalism, fitness and injury record is outstanding
Lol no club is offering a 34 year old Goldy 2 years if so please they can take him

Over a decade in the system to become an overnight sensation! He is playing great footy for the swans, love his aggressive follow up to the ground ball. Solid clearance player. Gave goldy a bit of a touch up.

Do we keep him or not?

He was (arguably) beaten by Hickey sure, but we look much better when he is in the ruck than when CCJ and Xerri are there and we fall apart.

Do we offer another year/s or just back the other two in?

I'm actually torn on this one, I sway from one to the other, as we need the future as a priority sure but Goldstein still seems by far our best ruck option.
Single year I reckon. See if the young boys can actually take the mantle instead of having it gifted to him.

I’m in the minority here that we should let him go and invest more game time into CCJ and to a lesser extent xerri
Aaaand where's Nobles ?
gone as he messed up too many other things

but this was one thing he got right imo

They are the exact two scenarios I keep swaying between.

Goldstein is obviously not the future, but equally I don't think either of the other two have shown near enough to say we shouldn't keep him for another year as clearly still our best ruck option.

I'm probably still in the move on camp, considering we are likely repeat wooden spooners, but then I know we will be worse off for it (initially at least)

presumably Charlie Comben will come in and CCJ will ruck all day. Maybe Nick Larkey or Ben McKay can give relief?

Last round of the year and yet again it's Todd Goldstein available for AFL selection and the 2x 22yo understudies broken by the season.
