reckon he goes and tries to chase finals and a flag

And allows us to pump games into CCJ and xerri
l think Clarko would be of the option ...Make them earn it..in regards to Goldys spot..if Goldy wants to leave, so be it, but l think with Clarko as coach, and remember he kept McEvoy on at the Hawks instead of putting him out to pasture, Goldy will be around for another year.

This should be good.

Another Preuss trade where we get a Tom Dyson type and then the team we trade with on trades him for a second rounder...

On SM-G991B using BigFooty.com mobile app
And then gives that 2nd rounder to us for a forward that kicked 180 odd goals in 3 years.

Man the NMFC has been managed badly over the last 20 years or so, some pathetic decisions.

I spoke with his best mate today and asked him if he’s heard from him. He said “thanks for reminding me……he left a message to give him a buzz .”

An hour later he walked past again and I did my best Judge Smails impression of “WELLLLLLL?”

He replied “I chatted to him. He’s not leaving. He didn’t discuss contracts or anything like that but he said he’s definitely staying.”

There is innuendo around this but haven't seen it definitely stated as yet.

I still understand but disagree with his Goldstein approach. On the surface giving 2 young ruckmen the floor has merit.

However first you need them both justifying that faith and you shouldn't have a clearly better option in their way you're just pushing to a side for no real reason.

Was also interesting Noble lacked the nuts to push Ziebell out of his role and/or the side and instead looked to contrive ways to fit him in.

I thought old concrete hands Xerri didn't do too badly in the early part of the season

He's too good and valuable to discard.

His tap work is elite, he runs his opponents into the ground, his contested and decision making are very good for a ruckman.

He has really good synergy with our midfielders and they in turn benefit with his presence.

I'd like Goldstein to go back to being the number 1 ruckman and playing that role as usual. The other 2 in X & Jones need to get better or find another spot in the team.

It's harsh but Goldstein is still miles ahead of those 2.

Agree. We need to be more competitive next year and Goldy gives us the best chance at doing that when he's the number one ruck. Both Xerri and CCJ have long-term contracts so they don't have any worries about their immediate future but what they both need to do is push and challenge Goldy for that number one role. In an ideal world by this time next year we've seen a changing of the guard and Xerri or CCJ has surpassed Goldy, it might take most of the year to happen but one thing we have is time.

Must stay. It honestly wouldn't surprise me to see him play a year elsewhere in 2024. A team thats really contending and he could be a back up there. Sydney for example would love to have him at that stage, and as a 300 gamer at North you wish him well.

I seriously worry for CCJ moving forward. Could be one of the all time horrible moves for him coming to North. Needs a huge pre season under Clarko to beat out Comben for the second tall forward position. He aint playing ruck.

I don't want us to adopt that mentality. You lose more than you gain letting elite experience wander off and benefit someone else.

Especially when we don't have any other credible #1 rucks on the list.

Yes but on the flip side if he stays for 2024 then CJ and X both look at other options. There comes a time for all players but Goldy isnt there yet.

As a club we have been horrible at this, both ways. Pushed Boomer too soon and have kept Jack too long for example. We really need to improve in this space and we have a chance to do it with Goldy.

Without being coarse, let them. As posted previously, I know what a frustrated ruck stuck down the pecking order looks like - and thus far neither of them have that look about them.

They post some ok stats in the VFL without ever being the difference between winning and losing at that level then never come in and command their post in the AFL to make the selectors really think about Goldie's place in the scheme of things.

There'll be another couple of run of the mill 'maybe' rucks on the table every year. But there won't be another Goldie.

There's just no one that can match his fitness, preparation, ability to make second efforts easily and even at his age, win taps consistently.

It is actually remarkable how easily he still makes things look even when he's not in his prime. True testament to how much of a pure athlete he is.
