That is correct... Hindsight makes this hard to read, and I am not a Demons fan!

It was hard to read at the time.

EDIT: Well actually, Toumpas was rated top 2 for most of his draft year, so I was pretty excited to get him. But I still wanted Wines for the Viney-Wines factor.

I think you're letting most recent form (where those two have been excellent) affect your judgement there. Initially Gresh was out of his depth at AFL level and Blake has been dropped twice for poor performances (and another time after a 22 disposal, 1 goal game, which was silly), while Jack had most of his very best performances really early in the year, so it's easier to forget them.

Blake has had 5 games (out of 15) where he's had less disposals than Billings' lowest disposal game for the year and Gresh has had 4 games of less. I think because we expect more from Jack we just take for granted his average games, which we would consider good games if they were played by the other two- Jade in particular, because he's younger and brand new.
Acres and Billings 2016 form has been hot and cold. Both will come good, and have of late. But for a large chunk of 2016, i don't think they get in ahead of the other mids.
Though Gresham should be ahead of Dunstan. That was an odd omission

I'd have all 4 of them on pretty level pegging and none of them in the 22, if it's based solely on this year's performances.

Acres last 4 games in particular hugely encouraging though, now that he's settled in and getting some continuity. 192cm and starting to consistently have 22+ disposal games (despite playing chunks of those games forward) and do some really special things.

So looking forward to what he'll be doing once he has another preseason or two and another 20-30 games under his belt. All things being equal he's going to be racking up big numbers, doing it inside and outside, making those who try to tackle him look silly, taking marks inside 50 and kicking goals.

Laird - Lever - Docherty
Mills - Weitering - Williams
Merrett - Cripps - Coniglio
Petracca - Daniher - Heeney
Stringer - Hogan - Fantasia

Grundy - Bontempelli - Viney

Hunt - Wines - Kelly - Moore

Forwards where very tough I went with the better mix. McGovern and Membrey stiff but have them competing for Stringers spot

Yeah probably not the best sample to go on, and as much as he's a bull he's a smaller dude who had to contend with a KPP sized bull running rampant in Cripps while not getting much support from his teammates.

He's been fantastic otherwise though and definitely deserves a spot IMO. I'd go him over Wines.
Cripps was unbelievable in that game. You could argue that we could've done more to clamp down on him, but I'm not sure how much good it would've done.

Sicily: 28 goals
Stringer: 37 goals
Membrey: 42 goals

Given all 3 are similar 3rd tall types who (this year at least) don't contribute much in terms of high possessions and defensive efforts I'd say the goals are a fair indication of who's been better and I'd have Membrey and Stringer a fair way ahead of Sicily.
I had membrey on the HF line, for some reason I had it in my head he was more of a high HF/chf type, and with Heeney on the other HF both would be strong targets around the arc with a long kick.

Tbh didn't initially see many options for the Fp just Stringer, Sicily, C.Cameron, L.McCarthy , and maybe Kent and Fantasia. My thinking was haveing Stringer and Sicily in both pockets would create so many headaches because both are exceptional 1 on 1.

If you're actually picking a team to play a match I reckon jake kolo gets a gig because he's one of the only lock-down defenders with a proven record. For a squad with so much talent there are surprisingly few proven one on one defenders.

i'd say lever and Andrews have proven themselves at shutting down opponents.

Presumably they left another really good one in McDonald out because he's been injured.
