The simple fact is if we have created the right program and environment and there is a clear path forward and a connection with the coach he will stay . Smart move on his part to get at least half of the season out of the way before looking at contractā€™s.

Got to love click bait headlines :)
Anyway my view listening to it was along the lines of not looking to go anywhere short term but maybe a stint in Adelaide to finish off his career but is looking to head home to Millicent when his playing days are over.

ā€œItā€™s definitely a little bit sleepy back home in Millicent, but Iā€™ve loved my time here in Melbourne,ā€ he told SEN SAā€™s The Run Home.

ā€œIā€™ve got my partner here, a house here, so life is going really well here and life at Bomberland is going really well as well, so canā€™t really complain about anything.

ā€œIā€™m sure one day weā€™ll end up back there. We actually bought a place together back in Millicent so probably life after football weā€™ll definitely end up back home in Millicent, so thatā€™s what we're looking forward to then.ā€

ā€œI certainly wouldnā€™t rule it out, but I donā€™t reckon it's where Iā€™m headed at the moment. Iā€™ll keep plying my trade at Essendon and hopefully weā€™ll finish off with a really good year,ā€ he remarked.

He added with a laugh: ā€œI might even end up in Tassie, you never knowā€¦ I might end my career in Tassie, head down there.ā€

Redman is out of contract at the end of 2023, but SENā€™s Tom Morris reported late last month that heā€™s likely to stay at Tullamarine and negotiations have commenced on a new deal.

Redman added heā€™s got no real go-home factor to leave Essendon.

ā€œIā€™m probably a bit of a supporter of US sports and world sports where you can sort of move anywhere at any time within windows, which is obviously getting spoken about,ā€ he continued.

ā€œI think as long as you get financial backing from the leagues and the clubs, I feel as though clubs should be able to move us on whenever they see fit as well, thatā€™s just my opinion which could be pretty dicey, but I do like what free agency offers.

ā€œI donā€™t know whether it necessarily appeals much to be, Iā€™ve got no real go home factor because I live four hours from Adelaide and five hours from Melbourneā€¦ā€

Amazing how the curated printed word can be used to convey a very different message than you get from listening to him speak. Absolutely going nowhere based on that interview. Pretty much completely rebuffed the idea of playing in Adelaide and even noted that while he appreciates free agency (and even suggested heā€™d back the AFL moving towards a system where players can be traded without consent), free agency isnā€™t relevant for him.

Yep heā€™ll stay based on his comments. People donā€™t realise he lives in the middle of Melbourne and Adelaide so Adelaide isnā€™t where heā€™s from.

He's cost us a *load of goals the past 4 weeks from s**t turnovers. If you can't see them, not sure what to tell you

So with Ridley out, who are the good ball users out of back 50 youā€™d be using whilst dropping redman?

Kelly?
Zerk?
Heppell?

Beyond being a terrible call, desperately need Redmanā€™s creativity from the back half

A pivotal moment in the dying stages.

With under 2 mins on the clock Baldwin runs to the bench at a stoppage, that he had just created, to allow Redman on to the ground. Redman breaks to the far flank rather than entering the congestion. We then wins the ball back from Reiwoldtā€™s brain fade and Redman gets on the end of it and is involved in a couple of crucial touches that lead to the final goal. In fact as he runs into the forward 50 Martin couldā€™ve handballed to Redders for a trademark running goal but instead he misses Tippa with a kick inside 50.

Very clever game sense.

The gut run down the opposite wing when he knew we had about 90 seconds to make something happen... under-rated. He would've been pretty ****ing sore already, and he could've palmed it off to Hind who was running in support, but he chose to take responsibility and do the thing and ultimately that led to Durham's shot at goal.

Was brilliant - think Baldwin also deserves a bit of a shoutout too. Brought the ball to ground in the contest leading to a throw in - knew we needed a quick turnaround and he sprinted to the bench to allow Redman to come on. Selfless, possibly thankless, but probably won us the game

His composure to wait for a leading target when there was 50 seconds on the clock was impressive. Didnā€™t look rushed, and he probably hit up the right lead - just bounced out of Drapers hands from memory.

He would have known there were under 60 seconds left at that point.

Even everyone at the ground was urging him on to rush and go forward. I loved it at the time how he just didnā€™t turn and bomb, he wouldā€™ve known exactly how long was left.

Another (along with Andy McGrath) that needs to be spoken about as a genuine All Australian (squad) chance after another dominant game.

Not trying to have a go but I find comments about who should be in the convo for All Aus to be so boring. Itā€™s a flawed accolade and has no bearing on a playerā€™s value to their team. Heā€™s playing really well and that should be enough.
