The entire midfield was absolutely sh!t

Newman & Yze need to sort that out sure its a slow midfield but that doesnt stop you from reading the ball and getting 1st hands to it
Suns just read it waltzed out of the middle at will
Maybe suns got their hands on the ball first is because they are quicker. Maybe they waltzed out of the centre because they were quicker. We were a poor midfield last year without Dow so for some on this site to blame him for the dominance of the suns is nonsense. The reality is that Toranto Hopper and Prestia are slow and having more than one of them at clearances makes us slow. We shouldn’t be discussing whether Dow should be dropped we should be discussing who else do we need to play in the midfield to make it competitive

I would keep him in for a few games. I would rather drop someone like KMac who is just not giving us enough offensive run. I would probably play Judson Clarke on that wing.
I must have watched a totally different game

Kmac was pretty much 1 of the few players doing well specially in the first half
10 other players before him to get dropped based on yesterdays game

so who makes way for dusty if not dow?

Banks? Selection will be interesting because Ross also deserves to start. Dow deserves another chance because the entire midfield was shithouse and only dropping Dow isn’t what we should be doing

Watching Rowell monster and embarrass Dow yesterday made me ponder. Both taken in 1st round 2019. Rowell after his initial 5 game blitzkrieg was injured for remainder of season and needed surgery on his shoulder. It was deemed so bad Gary Ablett offered to mentor him through recovery even though he left GC 3 years prior.

You need a functioning shoulder to pick up weights and time, effort, sweat and grunt. WTF has Dow been doing in 5 years. He must have panic attacks or break out in hives in the weight room because he still looks like an undeveloped 15 yo. I'm assuming he's lazy because what other excuse is there? Watching him yesterday after going in with hopes he's a big part of our future. At 1/2 time my mate said he's another Cale Morton. Gave me flashbacks to this....

I feel the same. I want McIntosh desisted but he actually put in and 1st half was one of a few having a crack. I was thinking Gibcus looked good 1st game back moving freely spoiled plenty was under non stop pressure. Balta and Bolton were starved but made most of opportunities, Grimes was putrid, Broad was putrid, MRJ did little besides a tackle.

Endless posters want those who performed ok yesterday or those who usually kill it dropped like Taranto, Broad.... whilst making justifications for why MRJ, Grimes and Dow must NOT be dropped? Madness!!!

Good question. It's not easy. I'd do the following... Assuming Lynch is fit.
Out: Kosi, Ryan,
In: Dusty, Lynch, Ross
Sub: Pickett

If Nank is fit then I dunno. I guess you just take out Naismith.

Personally id rather they bring nank back via vfl to manage his workload.

Hate for him to be over loaded and miss most of the year.

Comical starting a read of this thread from late Feb. Comparisons to Diesel FFS!!! Laughter a plenty. Plenty pumping him up as our next Shedda.

Yesterday is where he is at. He is not a 1st / 2nd year mid. I am sure he is a nice guy. I see him as an OK VFL footballer.

But I am sure many here want him to have another game - so I hope he does on Thu - let's see if he can have any impact in an AFL level game. I'd be perplexed if he gets a spot ahead of Ross though. Not sure how he got ahead in the pecking order there. I guess because they want Ross to be a winger.

I honestly thought the conditioning of our guys vs the Suns guys looked below par across the board. Maybe its just they tend to be more tanned, but i swear all their guys looked to have tone and definition in their arms while our guys looked like 90s afl players. Thought physically across the board we were outmatched in speed, strength & even endurance. performance of the medical & fitness team has had very sub par results since covid era.

Hey hey hey, be careful, those with the blinkers on about Kmac aren’t gonna like this post

Mate, I'm with ya but we won't bring him back via the VFL. Even though we should.

It's about the future and although I like KMac as a team player, he is not the future. We need to somehow get games into Clarke, Coultard, McAuliffe, Sonsie (when back), Brown as well as Banks. Out go premiership heroes Grimes, Kmac, Pickett, Prestia and a couple of others.

This is ridiculous. Yesterday means nothing. if it did, it means Taranto should never ever have won our B&F!

How about looking at our midfield leaders such as Taranto, Hopper and Prestia who were all comprehensively beaten before looking at the most junior of that quartet?
