Also, Darling is on record saying he can achieve 40 goals for the season which would be tremendous return on investment since most pundits are writing him off.

Our inside 50 ball use is the most important part though. It was dreadful but considering the fact we were running a makeshift forward line due to the lack of genuine key threats it's possible the connection still needs to be established.

Forward lines operate better when the targets are key forward first and ruck duties second as opposed to the other way around which we were forced into running with for ages.

I'm just hopeful we don't let skill errors feast again. Simply have to be better.

He doesn't have to kick 40 goals to be a success. Hopefully he can help with the forward line's spacing and movement and we score more as a result.

He still needs to attract the ball and be dangerous or otherwise it’ll be the same as having ccj/pink/teakle types.

I was rewatching the Eagles games in Perth yesterday and Darling could have had 4 goals in the 1st quarter. He got up the ground to be a option then works hard back to goals to be a option again. Has a great workrate and will create leads after leads even if not used. Knows his role

I agree. He’s actually a bloody good forward, under rated career I reckon. We haven’t had a forward like him play for us for a long time. Will get in plenty of dangerous spots, just gotta hit him up…….Colby, Sheez and FOS should be able to do that relentlessly.

I remember that game clearly. We had no one to go with him… he was literally taking the Pi55 . If he kicks those goals in the first …
we are no where near winning that game. We have not had a hard working CHF who presents time & time again since Frank the Tank Drew Petrie. I agree. Darling will provide us a reliable outlet down the line .
You watch Caleb Daniels look for him running the ball out from our HB line next season. 😊👍

Our HF line is the world’s biggest black hole.

The ball simply does not find its way there.

Was a bloody good forward. 33 next year and various moments of decrepitude this year, it's not unreasonable to have reservations. Anyone expecting a lot is misguided imo, but if he can put his brain to good use, we'll be further ahead than if Pink or Teakle were in his place

It does get into our forward line . The stats show we more often than not have more inside 50’s than our opponents. It’s how it’s delivered & how our forwards present that is our downfall.
