The only fact is Lazz is currently rated ahead of Will, which why he has played all games so far & Will has played Zero.

All other interpretations/opinions, including yours are not facts.

Agree. I was taking issue with opinions asserted as facts.

My opinion of the Lazzaro currently rated ahead of Will fact is that it's about to change.

Just want to revisit this.

Shiels now being preferred to him as an option.

The writing is well and truly on the wall.

Id now go as far as saying ill be shocked if he's at the club next year.

Shiels will be sub relax
Whilst I agree I’d rather wilphil at least sub it’s not a big deal

He now needs ford or a hff dropped so Simpkin plays mainly hff and he plays mid

That’s one Brownlow Vote that Phillips polled against the Gold Coast has held him in good stead. :stern look
please think of a second joke, for all our sakes

He doesnt even seem to be on the radar.

Its such a shame. Im shattered about it, but its happened.

It will be difficult to determine what is fair value for him come seasons end.
Clarko has talked about how they are wanting to fit him into the team

Just working out the mix

If he’s still not in half way through the year then worry

I get that. And every time this is raised there are staunch defenders of Will, which is admirable.

But here are the facts that go against him:

1. Powell has exploded. Now locked in to our best midfield mix. LDU the other lock.
2. Wardlaw is comfortably in front of him, and has been since he got to the club.
3. Clarkson is preferring a 33 year old Shiels to him (sub or not doesnt matter)
4. Lazzaro is in front of him, hence his round 1 selection.
5. Its a matter of time before Mckercher and Sheezel start getting exposed to midfield minutes
6. The entire first round of this draft is mids, so he can be replaced (whether we hold our pick is another question, but it is what it is)

Its a compelling case.

Phillips is a very one dimensional, limited footballer (despite some arrogant people on this board thinking the opposite), but even I'm surprised on how little Clarkson rates him.
And let's be clear about it - this situation demonstrates Clarkson remains a hard arse - he followed Phillips as a junior, and as evidence, go back and watch the first footage of clarkson introducing himself to the playing group. The repartee between him and Will was an obvious display of regard.

I interpret this to mean Clarkson doesn't hand out games to a young bloke even if he clearly likes him.

And I reckon it follows that if Clarkson reckons he can trade to advantage, he will.

Phillips is way off it at the minute but that’s not to say he won’t get his chance and take it later in the season. It would be nice to see him dominate at VFL Level to begin with. :stern look

seriously though, did anyone ACTUALLY expect him to get selected after his last VFL game? zero f*cken chance. Obviously.

Equally though, predicting who is going to be traded in April?

Lazzaro is probably the only spot I can see him getting a look in, realistically.
