And I could imagine the look on Ponting's face as he passed Hughes on the way out to the wicket.
I think he's outdone him.

Good start for the test, some early wickets needed to make things interesting.

Re: 2nd Test: Australia v Pakistan @ Sydney (Sun-Thu)

Oh Ponting show some maturity. Hope he didn't give Hughes the evils. Why would you do that? I know he's nervous but it would be nice to get some sighters. Not a test player.

Anything else?

Sami on a hat trick

Punter with a golden duck after hughes falls

Richie will love the call...2 for 2

Re: 2nd Test: Australia v Pakistan @ Sydney (Sun-Thu)

Oh well, Ricky is terribly out of form now.

Is it just me, or does Ponting get caught more on those type of shots then anyone in test cricket history, especially early in his innings.

GAME ON.

What absolute rubbish from Ponting.

You can run the "that's the way he plays" argument all you like, but if you bat at 3 you need a degree of temperament and judgment - he lacked both today.

And you are there to set a foundation for the innings, which he completely failed in doing.

He's got a long way to go.
EFA

Re: 2nd Test: Australia v Pakistan @ Sydney (Sun-Thu)

Looked like it was just a matter of time until Hughes got out. But Watson needed to take that quick single when Hughes dabbed the ball onto the leg side. There was a run if Watson didn't hesitate, and as the senior partner he should have been doing everything he could to get Hughes off the mark.

But having said that, Hughes was lucky to even make it to 10 balls.

Oh FFS. They're reviewing.
