True but they wouldn't be the most comfortable or easy to run in even if the 'jogger' style. They are heavy, annoying and hurt your feet.
the modern day ones made with the plastic style protection are very light and very comfortable

I can't recall last time one of our quicks broke somebody toe anyway still seems pretty rare injury at test level
I remember Thommo at the 75 WC doing it to a poor SL batsman, pretty sure he broke his foot in fact.

I know - the actual resulting injury I mean is the misfortune. Guys get hit on the foot a dozen times a game and it usually just trickles away with no recourse. In this case it’s been precise enough to seemingly incapacitate the bloke for the rest of the game
Yep, it's more common it hits the instep. Flush on the toe is nasty

By all accounts Thommo used to specialise in the old sandshoe crushers when he wasn't trying to take a bloke's head off.

Most of those accounts were from Ian Chappell though so you can take those accounts with a grain of salt.
I'm old enough to remember. Those accounts were very true. Ian Chappell was actually one of the best captains we ever had, arguably our greatest

He did it alright.
He bowled Greig with one in the 2nd innings of the first Test in 74-75 for instance.
