yeah i reckon its great theyve rewarded hilf in the squad and the 20/20, without a shadow of a doubt he is the best bowler outside the current test 11 bowlers (clark lee mcgrath) atm, he is bowling bettr than wat tait or johnson ever have so far in their careers..
shud prob be mcgraths replacement next test series if everythin keeps going the way it is,,i dont think u wud want a lee/johnson lee/tait (especially) combo just yet cud be damaging

Ya def cud be da chance for da world cup ya know. hes da star of da futr. he betr dan clark or johon.

just doing a breakdown of the wc squad, 18 of the 30 have played less than 20 odi's.

what is certain is that this will be the nucleus of the side (barring injury or if we don't qualify for the commbank series finals)

1. gilchrist
2.
3. ponting
4. symonds
5. m clarke
6. m hussey
7.
8.
9. lee
10. bracken
11. mcgrath

the guys in the 13 man squad for the commbank series have the edge at the moment. guys like hayden, white, hogg, johnson, s clark.

basically it comes down to 7 guys fighting for 3 spots.

*symonds/m clarke/hussey could bat anywhere 4-7.

The eight named seem to be relatively automatic selections. For the 3 remaining spots I would have:

- The best batsman available, Hayden's experience and abilty to open give him a big advantage.

- The best batting all-rounder: I wouldn't have them batting higher than 7. In #7 role I want someone who can score quickly straight away. Feel that suits White alot better than Watson.

- Final spot woud go to a number 8 bat who can bowl 8-10 overs. Bowling is more important than batting in this role. Hogg offers us an ODI specialist spin bowling option. Lee or Hogg at #9 also means we have a decent tail.

I'd take Watson and Hogg ahead of White for balance.

I suppose, on a spinners pitch Watson and Hogg could be picked, and on a seamers deck Johnson and White?

Haddin to replace Gilchrist if he is out of form or injured
Jacques to replace Hayden if he is out of form or injured
Johnson / Hilfenhaus will replace any pace bowler who is injured or out of form
Cam White will replace probably Hogg or maybe Symonds if out of form

Stuart Clark and and a few others will be unlucky to miss out.
