Toby Pink – No.32

Like Nyuon at Richmond, Toby Pink was assigned No.47 over his three seasons with the Sydney Swans. This time he’ll pull on the No.32 he most recently wore for Glenelg as the Bays secured the 2023 SANFL premiership.

Having crossed from Essendon under the 10-year-rule, Barry Davis took the No.32 he wore in two premierships with the Bombers, and went on to captain North Melbourne to its first.

Shaun Smith, father of North Melbourne Women’s player Amy, wore No.32 over his six seasons and 47 games from 1987 to 1992. Amy has chosen to go her own way in No.15, however.

Albert Mantello remains the only North Melbourne player to have hit triple figures in the No.32, though his most profound impact is as one of the administrators who helped to secure the club’s first two premierships and ultimately, its long-term viability.

For a spell in the early 2000s, the guernsey was also in the care of cult figure and entertainer Digby Morrell.

The number was last assigned to Jacob Edwards, who wasn’t able to break through for a senior appearance in two and a half seasons at Arden Street.

Too many folks are sleeping on Toby.

He's legitimately good. He'll play.
Who is sleeping on what?

Our KPD options are:

Corr - who we need to play every game
Logue - who is probably back early given reports but we need to plan for somewhere mid year
Comben - is this any more than a rumour (?) as it stands he is a forward and has rumoured delays/setbacks
K Dawson - who struggled to crack the team last season but we are likely to see him play this year
Pink - the most likely of any of the KPD we picked up
Biggie - who is as raw as botulism
W Dawson - unlikely to do anything beyond VFL next season.

Pink is going to get a fair crack at it early. What he does with that will be up to him.

If I was picking a team for round 1 currently it would have Corr, Pink and K Dawson all starting. Who else we gonna play there? Bonar?

It will be interesting if Kallan can make it. Wonder how the brothers would play together?

Seen plenty of people (both media types, and people here on BF) doing our 'best 22' lists for next year, and not including Pink.

I reckon he cracks our best 22 and plays the year.

I hope I'm right; I'm also a Glenelg Tigers supporter in the SANFL and I watched him absolutely dominate for us this past year. We don't win the premiership without him.

My opinion is far less scientifically grounded. But the moment we announced him, I felt that he'd outdo expectations.

Really fascinated to see how a defence of him, Corr, and Kawson fares, if they ever line up in the same team. Reasonable height yet decent mobility too
