Brayden George Special Edition:

Fabulous to see Braydo joining in drills for the first time after the long long road back from injury.
Still a little while off contact training but all non contact is on the table for him.

First observations:
He is MEGA determined. Very focussed. I think he has something to prove.
Kicking:
What clean short kicking this kid has. Rarely misses a target and the ball covers the space fast, low and directly at the player without the receiver needing to reach left or right (and therefore allow easier spoiling).
His long kicking is something to see as well. Kicking goals from inside the centre square and clearing the fence. Easily 65m kicks without a lot of obvious effort.

Handball:
I've been frustrated over the last few years by our clubs inability to handball well with many players not seeming to have any power behind their handball. Braydo seems to be able to handball 20m with ease and, like his kicking, they are direct and have power.
Two very positive assets.

Running:
The only long run today he seemed to struggle a little and seemed to be feeling it during his first extended training session. Get a few sessions under his belt and I am sure he will be better for it.

Today I mostly kept an eye on Braydo but I will post a few other pics from the day in another post.

He genuinely looks like Petracca

Cant believe this bloke is 186……he looks short and stocky…….awesome that he’s pretty much Petracca build. Exciting.

It's part of his main weapon.

He's built a bit like Leigh Matthews, but is so athletically gifted with his vertical, long arms and contested marking, he plays like he's 6"3 when the ball is in the air. He can outmark tall defenders.

When on the ground, he has a very low center of gravity and is really hard to move. He also uses that strength and bulk to win marking contests, he's really hard to move.

I absolutely have him on our top tier of young players with Sheezel, Wardlaw, McKercher and Zane. He belongs there.

By the sounds all he's lacking is a tank, which is understandable coming off an ACL.
Could be something special young Brayden and we got him at a bargain price.
With him, Duursma, TT, Curtis, Ford and the Bull we certainly don't lack X factor up forward. The days of boring, vanilla North are numbered.

Hopefully the elbow holds up.

Did something similar when I was younger and it took a few years to get right.

Medical science has come a long way and I dare say Sausage would have taken better care of it than I did.

Been thinking how odd that we were able to get Brayden in his draft year, call it destiny, call it luck or call it whatever you believe in, really weird how somethings just happen like that. I had Brayden at pick 12 and that was on potential and the fact he reminded me of a certain player in the games he played.

Before I get to that player when I say odd and weird I think how our young team has come about and it gives me goose bumps, if you don't believe in stuff like that, that's okay, some do, some don't. Let me give a few reasons for this: Jy Simpkin, in his draft year was going to go earlier than expected but breaking his leg in school footy early in the year strangely saw him slide all the way to our pick 12, we snapped him up.

LDU, in his draft year, my god the one player I wanted, we had to get was Luke Davies Uniacke. I couldn't believe all the hype around Cam Rayner, a very good young forward with burst and knew how to kick goals, I had him at pick 3. The media was crazy with Cam, "the next dusty" and so forth, I only hoped Brisbane would take him and only two more bullets to dodge and he'd be ours. I had Luke at 1, I again thought Fremantle or Carlton would pick him, no doubt at all, you wouldn't read about it, he got to pick 4 and we snapped him up, sound familiar?

George Wardlaw, in his underage year, "put down your glasses", number 1 draft pick, the following year, end of story. The problem with that was I also liked a lad by the name of Harry Sheezel and we only had the one early pick. We could only pick one of them. In his draft year George twice did his hamstring, even though it happened a third time, it wasn't quite ready when he came back the second time and he went from a certain pick 1 to now doubts about his hamstrings.

Some will say Will Ashcroft would have something to say about that{the number 1 draft pick} not much separated them in the end, but two different players, Will, skilfully balanced and uses his smarts, George; more than a few times no player could take him down in a contest and his pace was a weapon, he was a modern day "Warlord". In his draft year Harry was tearing it up playing in different positions and just before the draft the unthinkable happened, with Jason leaving, pick swaps and 3 clubs involved, we got picks 2 and 3,{I was thinking, wow, this is getting weird, don't tell me its happening again}

The two best players and through strange circumstances, we can get both of them. You know how this goes, there was only 2 players on our radar and we snapped them both up. Lastly with Brayden before his injury I really thought ,pick wise, he would be around that 10/11 or 12 pick hoping no other clubs would pick him up, then he got injured, I thought he might slide a little, say late first round, did someone say the word "slide" how about all the way to pick 26! This was getting ridiculous, but I wasn't complaining, I was celebrating after the draft thinking "sometimes things happen for a reason".

Now I get to that certain player that Brayden reminds me of and that is Jordan De Goey, almost the same height, beautiful kick of the ball can really take a mark and can be very explosive. The way we were able to group these lads together and the way it happened is off the charts, every little detail with help from all the other clubs had to be, in a famous commentators words, "centimetre perfect".

Now I get to that certain player that Brayden reminds me of and that is Jordan De Goey ,
Let's hope Sausage can stay fit and that he reaches his potential. Whether or not the player comparison is legitimate, there is one thing I hope above all else for him and that is that he continues to be a decent human being.

And I hope that the leadership in place at North these days keeps the team focused on the game, develops them as people and helps them to get the most from their careers while reigning in any potential dyckhead behavioural traits.

Let’s wait until he plays a game?
That's a fair call, I've seen this posted a few times this year and I get the apprehension or doubt especially with what's happened over the last 4 years or even that he might not be that good, but believe me King rising there are players you see that you just know are going to make it, Brayden is one of those players.

I'm quite sure there are a few others out there that probably feel the same, trust me I get it, as another poster SonofSamsquanch posted, when he's ready to play, a few people{opposition supporters} are going to say "who the hell is that". We have some very smart posters on here with the information they share, Sphynx's summary of Brayden is excellent, he is indeed built like Leigh Mathews and in fact early in Leigh's career moves like him but in todays football he is DeGoey down to a tee.

I'll finish by saying, I hope Brayden and all our young players end up decent human beings and the ones that have been there for a little while, I think will teach them. The "new" boys will learn from them and together they will galvanize and show the football world what we already know.

One thing, more than anything else,
