100% agree - always easy to like the 'triers', but he's genuinely playing some good footy at the moment.

He's got a lot of natural ability in terms of how he uses his body in contests. Smart player too just lacks the skills to be really damaging but I love how he cracks in every week.

CONTRACT talks are underway for Essendon's Matt Guelfi, who is enjoying a career-best season at the Bombers.

Guelfi is out of contract at the end of this season after inking a one-year extension last year but discussions have ramped up for a new deal.

The West Australian is keen to stay at the Bombers, where he has played 16 games this season as a permanent fixture of the Essendon forward line.

He lacks a bit of vision & precision by foot. But his overhead marking is well above average, and his loose ball work and and general competitiveness are excellent. He would have more smothers than the rest of the team put together over the last 2 years. Go Ice Man.

Freo took Colyer and made him into a much more useful player than he was at Ess, Guelf could be a superstar with the same treatment!
Fortunately I don't think he fits their list profile atm and I can only hope WC don't have the salary cap to offer 3yr overs for a role player.
