Intersting in his 18 finals north are 8w 10l.

He averages 6 less disposals a game but almost double the clangers, i think some of the players people compare him to have done a lot more in september and big games in general.

Won a few best and fairests and picked up brownlow votes, but what competition has he had at north ?

You suggested that Harvey is only tagged because North are bereft of players worthy of being tagged.

Forgive me if I take it as Harvey being the most worthy of a tag means he is the best player.

Now dig yourself a hole, similar to the $10M one your club is in and crawl into it. You're adding nothing here with your ridiculous comparisons with one of the best ball users in the game against one of the worst ball users ever.

Posts like this are why no one on BF respects north supporters.

You do realise he played 11 of those finals before he was 22 years old when he was playing the bulk of his games in the forward line?

Some North folk overrating boomer big time. A comfortable step below Buckley, Hird, Roo, Voss & Harvey which is no great knock on him. Probably on par with West, Johnson, Fletcher, Mcleod IMO. Again no great knock, West was just inducted last night

Boomer will suffer for having played for North during a post success era at his peak and being twice runner up in the brownlow.
IMO his career would be similarly rated alongside someone like McLeod.
Guns. Dominated the comp at one stage. Club champions.
It seems everyone has a level of the players of that era viewed in this pecking order.
Voss Buckley Hird Harvey
Cousins Crawford Wanganeen Akermanis
Harvey McLeod Ricciuto Koutoufides
Kelly West Matera
Hocking Knights Bell Couch

Failed to mention he is the premier down hill skier embodying most of Norths problems. All one way and a dog under pressure.

"Standing in the game"? I've stood next to Boomer and let me just say, he definitely doesn't stand at 172cm like official records say. Would be more like 166 or 167 :)

I reckon hes been a gun.. Torn us a new one on many occasions.
Anyone who plays an AFL game can play footy but to play 350, what a freak
Congrats Boomer on an awesome career:thumbsu:

One of Norths greats and a true champion of the game. How many posting on here have played Afl let alone 350 games and won a premiership! End this thread the man should not be disrespected:thumbsdown:

I don't think many people are disrespecting him. I'd love it if he played that type of career for the Swans.

That said if the discussion is his standing in the game people are allowed to place him where they see fit.

I think he's in the second tier of midfielders.

You are entitled to your opinion.I think some people commenting on this thread are trying to troll North supporters at Boomers expense:thumbsdown:

It's the op's fault, we could've been celebrating the great career he has/is having instead op decided to put him on the same level as hird, voss, ricciuto which he is clearly not.

Champion of north melbourne, not a champion of the competition.

Unfortunate thread and it started with the OP. Boomer was a more than handy player who held his spot for years in a great side and has kept up his level of performance to stay one of the best in a mid-ranking side for another decade. With few natural advantages he has made himself one of the longest serving players ever and stayed relevant through many changes in the game and his own role. And nowhere near the end, as far as anyone can see. One of be best small players ever at a club with more than its share of great smalls, and someone most in the ga e recognise as one of the greats. Opposing fans can't all see it, that's ok - I doubt he cares much and we shouldn't either. He gets credit where it counts.
