Despite Richardson getting 5 goals I thought Watt played a good solid game and gave a very good account for himself to back after last weeks sensational effort.

Even when Richardson took a mark Shannon was right there with him which hasn't always been the case in the past. Plus he backed himself a bit more in this game and it paid off.

Didn't show quite as much mongrel as he did against Tarrent but I find it very enocouraging that the last 2 weeks have been 2 steps forward rather than in the past where he would play an odd good game here and there.

Richardson didn't deserve 2 of those goals (eg. The ones that came from frees, especially the one from the 50 mtr penalty, that was ridiculous)

Watt did play a pretty good game..

He did look angry when beaten, and there was one contest when Richo beat him for the mark on the HFF, but Watt still threw Richo onto the ground. I was very rapt to see that. In the past, Watt wouldn't have bothered to put in that extra little bit of pressure.

Ok, this may seem a minor thing, but I noticed a few times last night, Watt doesn't put his hands up on the mark or even jump.

I appreciate some coaches doen't like jumping in the event that players play on, but 25-30m you have to give yourself every chance. You might touch or smother one in 25 but I think it is a point that should be made to him.

well said Envelopes. Makes everyone accountable and helps the team gel better. Four quarters from the forward line would be finishing touch.

Best game I've seen Watt play. Sure he kept Lloyd to 1 goal but he did it through beating Lloyd in contests which rarely happens. Watt backed himself tonight and played the ball which is IMO the way he plays best. He was able to be a stopper on Lloyd as well as a contributor with a couple of marks and some good passages of play. He is working in well with Colby and Arch now which is great to see. Stevo is getting back and running past him for the handball and all up we cleared it from the back line pretty well.

Yep, did well. On the couple of genuine contests he had with Lloyd he managed to hold his own and even win. That was positive.

Lloyd was starved of opportunities and Watt didnt have alot to do, but I would say its the best I seen him play.

Its the first game I think where he didnt once look out of his depth.

Its performances like these that makes you wonder why Watt is so soft and ordinary at times.

He looked very composed last night.

There were two times when he won the ball in congestion, and rather than simply bombing it, he handpassed to a teammate in the clear on one occassion and in the other, he ran his way through the traffic and found a teammate with the subsequent pass.

Definetely his best game for us.. hopefully the turning point of his career- from trier to solid/good FB

He is still learning, he needs to work out how to play some players better than he does and he also needs the support whilst he is developing.

I think he is becoming alot better against the likes of Lloyd and Neitz because he has played them a number of times and is learning how to play them better.

I hope he improves on the likes of Fevola, Gehrig and a few of the others that have touched him up a bit.

Our midfield played well and so did the rest of the defenders, thats the type of effort we need every week. We dont have to be brilliant, just put in for four quarters.

Really enjoyed watching Watt do his job well. Full credit to the other backs who gave a chop out as well. Which is something all good sides do to stop dominate forwards and something all good FBs need.

I wouldnt say he had an outstanding game but I think he took another step this week.

He continues to improve his body-on-body work and he's starting to learn how to scrag without giving away frees.

Eventually I think he might get there.

Yeah, he held Thompson until the last quarter (when the game was over anyway) So he is certainly improving.. give him another year or so, and he should be a pretty good FB

Thompson to 2 (and only junk time goals)
Treadra goal-less

From memory,the most he has conceded has been 5 twice to Richo and Bradshaw,throw in a couple of 4's - Hall,Gehrig,Nietz.
(Dont quote me on whether he played Full games on those players with 4's)
I think he has done very well.

With our fullback of the century working in the marketing/membership from next year and maybe healing some wounds in the coming seasons, this IMO can only help Watt's development.

Watt is looking terrific on leading forward while on the garilla types we can just stick arch on them looks like we have most forwards covered now, pity Colby is gone for a few weeks tho

I didn't know Denchy was working in the membership department next year!

On Watt, it was pleasing to see him bash the ground and get real angry when Thompson out marked him once. It was something that Mick was renowned for in his prime, his absolute loathing of having his opponent getting a touch - I'd love to see Watt adopt a similar demenor and become an angry bastard!

Couldn't agree more, I commented on that as soon as I saw it, love seeing something like that. He has taken giant strides forward since being dropped.
