Also for what it's worth, I work with the mother of a current player. She certainly doesn't pretend to know everything that goes on, but she did say Dusty is very, very happy and is loved by the players and they are very protective of him. She thinks he will stay, but is worried about some of the outside advice he gets.

Ricky thinks that Dusty will leave a hell of a lot of off-field money on the table to move to Norf. He said in earlier posts that Richo has made a killing through Memorabilia, merchandise etc, by staying a one club player. He said that over the length of the deal he will make much more money at big club like Richmond than he can at a 'smaller club'. He also admitted he talks to Ralph Carr.
So he think hell go to norf?

I can see Dustys future at North already. Round 4 meeting with Scott and Brayshaw.

Good Luck Dusty dont say we didnt warn you.

Can people in the know how edit the correct heads onto this clip?

I can just see Dusty getting Jake to do just that. Go shake the tree for me Jakey.

Now to this bullshit you norf fools keep going on about how this was planned and you will front load as you are struggling to pay players now anyway etc etc. If that was the case, you would not have 8 players, some of who are loyal servants for years at your club being told...sorry we dont know what we can pay you till Dusty tells us, so brace yourselves as you may need to wait till october. If you could easily fit these players you would be re singing them, you are not and that speaks volumes to the truth.

Hi mate, agree with most of what you said so have no reason to converse further over it however I have seen this pop up a few times today (and obviously the media has jumped on it previously too) but I did want to put forward a point about our current batch of uncontracted players. They are:

Thompson - veteran defender whose position is more negated by the introduction of new faces. Likely retirement.
Hansen - Unrestricted FA. Was shopped around previously. VFL player.
Mullett - has been on and off the rookie list, depth player next season if retained.
Jacobs - Basically injured for two seasons but was a great tagger in 2015. Has been on year to year contracts (with triggers) for four years.
Mountford - is a very good prospect but has indicated a want to return home to WA.
Wagner - will re-sign for chips, isn't knocking the door down.
Waite - is Jarrad Waite. Who knows?
Gibson - will be relegated to a depth player if any of our targets join us/may retire.
Fordham - rookie listed
Taylor - rookie listed

Meanwhile this season we have re-signed Simpkin, Durdin, Dumont, Marley Williams, Larkey, Higgins, Zurhaar and Junker.

Plenty of myths are being thrown about by both sides but hopefully this is one that can flat out be dispelled. Nobody is waiting for a contract, some squad players are hoping for one.

Apart from that you were bang on :thumbsu:

Why would they up it if we supposedly are already $2mill off their offer? What a load of ******* shit.
Spot on. This increase in the offer if correct gives me a lot of confidence that he is staying. Smacks of desperation. We all know before finals anyway. Either an announcement he is re signing or crickets and we know he is gone.

Mate good post but again just reinforces my opinion. If it is how you lot believe, that you are swimming in cap space you would have made a clear decision on those 8-10 players either to trade, delist or keep...its round 23 for heaven sake lol. Most clubs dont have 10 players told they just have to wait and see this late in the year.

So again if you had this magical gap in your cap, that can easily swallow the 1.6 plus million a year for Dusty, you guys would have already acted on the above players, you have not, and its been openly leaked I would assume from those players managers why you have not and the reason is simple, you cant as you dont have the amount of free cap space you think you do ( I do not disagree you guys do have cash to play with ).

Again just my opinion.

Two things;
That Ricky Nixon video was surprisingly interesting and insightful.

If Norf were at $1.5m per year(allegedly) why would they need to raise again to whatever they're at as of tonight???

I'll tell you, they keep getting told no and they keep upping their offer because they know they won't get Kelly and now they're just being desperate.

Mate, I'm with you. Each time I hear the offer going up the more confident I am that he isn't interested in lolnorf.

For what its worth I just asked Ricky Nixon the following question on twitter

and I got the following answer only a few minutes ago

That's a cracking open ended answer from old Tricky Ricky.

Things I like about norf:
- my memories of watching Jim and Phil Krakouer at Arden St when I was a kid.

Things I don't like about norf:
- Leigh Colbert
- Wayne Carey
- Glenn Archer
- Mick Martin
- David King
- Brent Harvey
- Lindsey Thomas
- the way they dive
- the way they stage for free kicks
- James Brayshaw
- the norf board on BigFooty
- a lot of other stuff

Honestly, how can you be OK with 1.5m to one player?

IMO its way to much to ask the team.to sacrifice and I think it'll cause culture problems. I am super proud of our club for holding its ground and if Dusty stays we will have no doubt in our minds it was for the team on the other hand if he leaves there will be no doubt it will be for the money and I don't see how your loyal players will be able to respect that.

Of course knowing Richmond, if Dusty leaves we will get into a bidding war with norf and get Goldstein, Lindsay Thomas and Majak Daw just to rub their noses in it.

In Greame Richmond we trust.

Not in the context of his Facebook video or the twitter conversation. Nixon is very much pro Dusty staying at Richmond. He maybe a pretty awful person Nixon, but he knows the business.
I just get the impression he doesn't like north for some reason.

I tend to think we have, not cap related as much as squad size related. We're looking at bringing in two players minimum in trade/fa and still have to draft at least three (plus rookies). Of the eight senior listed players there two to three will probably retire, one might have free agency offers, one is homesick. None of the remainder have starting 22 plays so their survival hinges more on whether somebody contracted (Goldstein/Swallow/Thomas/Anderson for example) is moved on, delisted or retained. Most lists I'd imagine are in similar spots but it's always a little more magnified when a side is bottom of the table and in the first year of a rebuild (or as we've charmingly tagged it, the 'aggressive reset').

Correct me if I'm wrong too but nobody from North has said that we have been waiting on incumbents before signing these guys or even intimated what the future is for them. That's media fodder, and media fodder has spurred all of this talk.

Obviously Kelly has told #lolnorf to GAGF, hence the desperate cash splash on Dusty

This 1.5 million talk would've 100% arisen from a journo broadly asking a player manager what he thinks North (or any other team for that matter) would need to offer to persuade Martin over to their club. Nek minnut, they report with the headline North offers 1.5 million for Dusty. It happens all the time. North won't come out and deny it, why would they, they get publicity as being seen as active during the trade period which sells hope to fans. So they play along.

From everything I've heard from those in the know is that Dusty keeps a fairly tight lip camp, so those claiming to know his status I question their sources. My verdict is that Carr is doing what he knows best and playing the 2013 card all over again by sourcing the highest possible offer and making the Tigers pay up. Backfired for him last time as Dusty appeared to carry some luggage. However, this time he's a known product and will likely win the Brownlow and a series of other accolades that warrant a large contract. He loves the club and will stay. Wouldn't be too worried if he left anyway as he'll have to go head to head with Graham in the middle and with Rance when he rests in North's 4 i50 per game forward line.

It's a tricky one... is a player worth 1.2mil? Didn't Fyfe get 1.3? Part of me says what is 200k a year in that context. Every club can afford a player over a million in the new cap and it won't be the only cap rise within the next few years. The players pushed all of this to get paid, I think this is going to become pretty commonplace in the next few years and let's be honest, nobody else at North deserves that money.

That is why i dont understand the aggressive move to throw everything at Martin. He is 26, say he has 4 years left of peak performance, the reality very well could be he will be out of it by the time your side has "aggressively reset" and start really contending but then you may be hamstrung as these future jets who are on your list performing will be asking for huge coin as you know, the Kanga's already have set a precedent that they are happy to pay the big bucks for stars.

It's a high risk move imo. One thing Wallet did do right was start us on the path of growing our talent instead of buying it
