Small forward?
It was stated that but looks to play a fair bit of midfield

“Tom Hanily (Gippsland/Leongatha): 2023 was Hanily’s top-aged campaign but it was heavily interrupted by injury so he will remain firmly on recruiters’ radars next year. When he did play, though, he proved he has AFL-attributes, averaging 22 disposals and five tackles in his seven games this year. Is a smaller midfielder who has strong stoppage craft, wins his own footy, has strong endurance and makes sound decisions.

Also saw a post of him getting 32 disposals in a game as a mid earlier this year.

Might have been taken as cover for Sheldrick given his recent injury and our late notice for extra depth as much as anything.

In the Coates Talent League this year averaging 24.5 disposals, six marks, 3.5 clearances, eight score involvements and 1.5 goals from four matches. Hanily also impressed in the second Young Guns game in April, racking up 18 disposals, three clearances and five tackles.

Only played 7 games last season because of injury.

“He’s a solidly-built kid. Especially when we’re wearing alternative jumpers, he looks like Tom Papley, so it’s not too much of a surprise that Sydney has taken him,’’ Power coach Rhett McLennan said in reference to top Swan Papley, who was also drafted out of Gippsland.

“He’s a small forward, plays very well in the middle and he’s hard at it and he’s very creative by hand and can kick with both feet.’’

Also debuted for Leongatha seniors last season.
Their coach's take;
“He’s a great kid, and super-diligent in what he’s doing with his footy,’’ McMicking said.

“He’d be a good guy to have around a footy club, that’s for sure.’’

Good luck to him, from Paps territory….speculative but hey, take the chance you have been given young man…there are plenty who would love to be in his shoes right now.
