The goals of Trump and Hitler are very different for one.

One tries to avoid conflicts at all cost the other attempted to take over the entire world and wipe out an entire group of people off the planet.

Maybe turn off CNN.
You've evaded the question completely. The was no wiping of planets in 1925.

And for the record, I've only ever watched CNN in foreign hotel rooms when there's no other English speaking channels.

She was actually a pretty decent candidate. Not a cult figure, but decent. Problem was, she was a woman.

This is extreme delusion the liberal media has fed their audience. It always about race and gender with you lot. Shes a bad candiate. Got destroyed in 2020 primaries. Didn't have to go through primaries this time around. Everything needs to be scripted and overprepared for. Took 2 days off to prepare for the debate. Her losing speech predictably had no substance, full of cliches. She has nowhere near work ethic or resiliance of Trump. She doesn't demand the respect Trump does from international leaders, thats why in trade her administation got walked all over. Her campaign/marketing had nothing to work with except the anti trump and stronger on abortion rights. Nothing stands out about her. Trump and Vance will walk through fire, she can only duck and weeve. I'll have no issue voting for a woman who shows she is a strong, sophisticated leader with a clear plan and alligned values. Harris is everything opposite that.

it's fair to critisise her campaign strategy. But you can't reasonably call her terrible.

The economy also isn't destroyed, and they sent mostly surplus obsolite military equipment to Ukrane, not money. So that's also just being a small brain parrot.

The US cant get out of this one by blaming the electoral college. They have got the leader they deserve.
She was a vanilla candidate. I cannot point to one single risk Harris took in the whole campaign. Vanilla does not work anymore.

I also do agree that being a woman was a factor and being a black woman was a huge factor. The USA is the least progressive first world nation on the planet - always has been.

How does the aggressive suppression of sunshine work - what the **** is going on in this world :drunk:
Masses of cloud seeding, as thick as possible to block it out so we can no longer see it.

I call her terrible, her exit speech was the best one she ever made.

I cant blame her completely though, she was probably following a game plan that was completely flawed.

In simple terms - the election was people having a say on the economy for the past 4 years, compounded by Joe Biden quite selfishly not handing on when he should. She never had a chance with such a short runway.
I'm not buying that. Harris was VP for a long time, has an impressive resume, and was chosen as a candidate to replace Biden because, at least in part, she was more a recognisable figure to the American people than some other potential candidates. Note that I said here she was chosen, which is something I'll get back to.
Actually no, I'll just post a link now. https://theconversation.com/democra...party-leaders-distrusting-party-voters-236002
A quick read through that addresses most of what I was going to say anyway.

I didn't see much of Marianne Williamson, but what little I did see made me sit up and take notice (I did post one interview on the now-defunct Freo politics board a fair while back). Sometimes, it doesn't take much to bring someone to attention, and when that person is a political candidate, it can happen in the space of a single speech or interview.

Harris had more a few chances to establish her independence from Biden. I recall one interview where she was asked directly what she would do differently to Biden, and her response was (paraphrased from memory) "Nothing I can think of", followed by a description of how she'd been instrumental in the formation of many Biden administration policies.
Couple that with far too many interviews in which she'd answer questions with long, flowery speeches speaking of change and making people "feel good" but apropos of nothing, that sort of position was fairly indicative.

Before anyone arcs up about the economy, its not about where unemployment landed or where interest rates dropped, its the journey through inflationary times that is the issue.

Joe needs to take a lot of responsibility for this (but won't). In true Dem tradition, it will be complaining about their opponent and the voters as opposed to understanding why.
This I do agree with, although with the caveat that this sort of argument applies to both sides, not just the Democrats. American politics is about blame and finger pointing, devoid of the introspection I might expect as a voter (if I were one).

I believe Australia needs to really take notice of how all of this has been unfolding in the last few decades. There are a few checks and balances in place which help ensure we won't reach the US level of identity politics and popular voting, but... we need to be careful.

I've read through quite a few speeches made by past politicians in Australia, winning and losing, opposition and in government. Collectively, the impression I garnered from them is that, in times past, Australia's politicians were far more articulate than they are now, more well informed, and most importantly of all - they didn't address the Australian public as if they were idiots.
I'm speaking very generally of course, not stating absolutely were, merely saying they were more so.

Democrats will shit in the next presidential election when the cost of goods and services keep increasing
I don't think that will happen. Biden is handing over a very good economy. All Trump has to do is keep it heading in the right direction.

The irony of Trump is he will be the one who keeps all the other nut cases in line.

It is a massive problem for the (slightly more) progressive side of politics that they never get credit for the good things they do. Ever.

Totally agree, she did not lose because she is a woman, she lost because she was 2IC to Biden and a liberal and yet despite the advantages of being the VP no one knew what her policies were where she foolishly surrounded herself on stage with billionaires.

The voters know what Trump is and accept his faults because he is a businessman first where he may fix their economy and end the wars. Most Americans who do not live in California hate anyone from there and do not like woke bleeding heart liberals from the Bay area telling people what to do. Not to mention the woke forced school gender rubbish.

I think donny will get rid of most US bases here, and that why our taxes will have to rise to increase our military spending.
No he won't.

He won't do anything. Period. Trump has no vision. He has no ideas.

Trump will grift and golf and keep the base happy with empty platitudes.
