This thread is not about Covid, lockdowns, or vaccines. It is about Donald Trump. While Trump was in office during the pandemic and his response to Covid is relevant, there are pertinent threads for you to post your opinions on those things in.

It might also do with reminding a few that when you post on the SRP, you are responsible for backing up/verifying your claims to fact. What this means is that you will be asked time to time to support your claims with evidence, to ensure that this forum is as free of misinfomation as we can make it.

Well actually that is where you need to find out more about why the US election result was what it was.

If you just accept the view that Trump won because the US working class are simpletons, then you are left with a very, very bleak perspective for the future of mankind.

In order to find a cure, one would need to study and address the causes, not the symptoms.

You know, honestly, I think there are people on both sides of the political debate who have been trying to do so for a fair while now. Those voices are being lost in noise.
We need less partisan adherence to idealism, and more consideration of differing viewpoints. Less training, and more thinking. More discussion. Real discussion, as opposed to attack and counterattack.

Perhaps I'm asking a little much in that respect. I think that political debate has been largely left in hands of zealots, and thinking, rational individuals are becoming tired... when they're not buying in.
When some in democratic nations begin to show signs of rejecting democracy itself, when liberal governments become more autocratic, that is a fairly good indication that things are going very, very wrong.

With respect to the American political landscape, I believe that many outside observers are losing sight of what the Democrat party actually is, amid the noise of what it purports to be. There were some within the Democrat party itself whose warnings were rather prescient, in hindsight.

Perhaps the most glib response I could give to you at this point in time is to stop shouting, and start thinking.

Reminds me of an interview on ABC with some guy from Truckers for Trump or Auto Union Works for Trump saying he support Trump because he was the supporter of family values. The guy on his third marriage, who has cheated, had an affair with a pr0n star, paid her off, has dubious connections to Jeffrey Epstein. That guy. Not Harris, married just the once and raising stepchildren, or Biden, who raised his children after his wife died and has been married to the same woman for almost 50 years.

They mustn't believe it, they must just not care.

I tried to post the same before the election. To be honest neither side in here showed any interest in being more civil.
But there is a difference between posting a trump tweet that has come from his mouth, rather than a nobody hack radical left twitter bot claiming misinformation. If one of our right wing supporters did it it would be deleted in a heartbeat…But nothing will get done because certain mods are unable to be objective when it comes to applying the rules because of their own bitter persuasion.

I look at what they do and not their personal life as much.

This is true.

But millions of others thought the same of Harris, for many reasons, one being that she has continued to fully support Israel's genocide in Gaza, She even wheeled in a decrepit Bill Clinton, who gave a speech justifying the genocide which was just as murderous and bloodthirsty as anything Trump has ever said.

Millions hated Harris because she continued to claim that the US economy was prospering, while their lives were being devastated by a cost of living crisis and the ongoing suppression of wages by the trade union apparatus, in alliance with the Biden administration.

Hundreds of thousands of rail workers will hate Biden for his intervention to illegalise their strike and force upon them a deal which will intensify their cost of living crisis, and address none of their grievances regarding conditions.

They will also hate Biden for calling them "garbage". They will hate Harris for teaming up with despised war criminals such as Dick Cheney and his war crazy daughter, and George Bush.

There were just so many reasons for the working class to despise Harris and see her as no genuine alternative to Trump.

Trump at least acknowledged the economic suffering of poor and middle America. This inspired the false hope among millions that maybe Trump would look after their economic situation more than Harris, because it was clear that Harris had no intention to do so.
