Just a reminder, even if it hasn't come up for a few pages and y'all should know this stuff by now:

This thread is not about Covid, lockdowns, or vaccines. It is about Donald Trump. While Trump was in office during the pandemic and his response to Covid is relevant, there are pertinent threads for you to post your opinions on those things in.

It might also do with reminding a few that when you post on the SRP, you are responsible for backing up/verifying your claims to fact. What this means is that you will be asked time to time to support your claims with evidence, to ensure that this forum is as free of misinfomation as we can make it.

Do not post conspiracy theories on this forum. We have an entire other forum for that.

Thanks all.

Cool? Millions die from preventable illnesses every year and always have. Staggering that anybody would still care about Covid
And most societies do their best to minimise it, not exacerbate it.

Promoting the injection of bleach is hardly an advertisement for one's leadership potential.

Well COVID is done and will not have any impact on Trump’s run as president for the next four years, so what’s the relevance? He’s obviously a shite person, but you just pick the one who will do a better job and it is obviously him.

Suggesting the injection of bleach was one of the least harmful things he did - notwithstanding that it was dumb and caused injury to those dumb enough to take his advice.

The playing down of the seriousness of the virus and the undermining of basic social distancing guidelines (not necessarily lock downs) and then vaccines were his “greatest” contributions.

Disgusting stuff from diehard democrat Bezos

While what he is saying is mostly true, if he had any integrity, he would have done this years ago.

Clearly changed his tune at the last minute because the Trump freight train is right in his face and there's nothing stopping it

The only good thing to come out of this is laughing at the comments section of the article

LOL, you literally just endorsed one of the biggest sell-outs in US politics, Tulsi.
I don’t see it as selling out, she was frozen out of the dnc, despite being very popular, and she’s being welcomed with open arms - in her TikTok account the post of her joining the Gop has many dozens of posts saying Tulsi for pres 2028 , and very little negativity at all plus she’s smart a veteran , photogenic and well spoken and fair she’s a winner.

There’s signs the wheels have fallen off!

Thing is with authoritarianism/nazisism/fascism etc it’s a whole series of small steps where people don’t take action then suddenly you are accepting things you never would of a year earlier let alone 5 years prior.

Trump and MAGA have been desensitising people over time, if I gave you a list of all the shit Trump would do and say before he got elected in 2016 you’d have said I was an extremist and it was a bunch of hyperbole.

But as it’s all happened and we are still here you think, no biggie.
And one could argue the same philosophy for the other end of the political spectrum.

For example older folks like boomers lament the slowly over time changing of society to favour minority groups over everyone else. That's how they view it, they think it's 'unfair' coz not everyone is treated / viewed the same.

All series of small steps, over time, and their world has massively changed, and they think it's worse. Even though the world has massively improved since they were young.

Of course what we have here with the rise of far right sentiment is definitely a biggie, anyone with a modicum of balance would view it as dangerous, including awaremind

If trump wins then buckle up, those dangers may well be played out, because he'll be in a position of power and influence, liberal democracy around the world is at stake, that's my biggest fear. The slow seeping in of oppression of what was once free and liberal.

Wheels falling off is an understatement, the cart has travelled over a one megaton yielding IED

That’s why I’m arguing for communication and compromise not polarisation and point scoring really, a less radicalised environment is needed and some real hard questions being asked and answered because business as usual is not gonna end well with all the threats that are gonna be around in coming decades…

The past four years have been chock full of fascist /totalitarian moves by the dems, finally culminating in funding and supporting genocide, I feel like there’s a lot of projection going on .
This is hyperbole.

There's nothing 'fascist / totalitarian' the dems have done in the last 4 years. That's overblown.

And they're not supporting Israel because they want to, they're supporting Israel because they have to stick with the 'liberal democray' schtick.

That’s mad hyperbole.

The prevailing feeling is divided but I think a lot of people-around 50% or more feel pretty shafted by the way vaccinations were rushed through and mandated.

This is being studied and prosecuted now and I think a future pandemic will be handled differently.

Hopefully if there is a future pandemic, the Pandemic Response team will still be intact. Because last time, in an act of extreme pettiness, Trump disbanded it because it was an Obama initiative. That's why he was so ill-equipped to cope with it, and botched it horrendously.

And you pretend that he won't be petty and vindicative if he gets another chance. Time to stop lying to yourself.

Small steps right ? One of the most disturbing thins is just how personalised our ads are and how it must be the result of the best surviellance system ever devised by 1000000%

well I hope not cos negative energy like that is never cool, you might just need to change your mind and get a little reeducation 😂

Yep there the MAGA geniuses who complain about how badly the country is being run but on the other hand they say that Biden is a puppet president and Trump really is the president.

Doesn't take a genius to work out that they mean that Trump is the truely elected President, not that he holds the office of the President.

Agreed that polarization is the problem, and the media love reporting on the polarization and by extension the public (some) think what's only left is 'us vs them'

Communication and compromise doesn't sell clicks.

The far right has a weird conspiracy theory that the world is out to get them in favour of marginalised minority groups.
