This thread is not about Covid, lockdowns, or vaccines. It is about Donald Trump. While Trump was in office during the pandemic and his response to Covid is relevant, there are pertinent threads for you to post your opinions on those things in.

It might also do with reminding a few that when you post on the SRP, you are responsible for backing up/verifying your claims to fact. The prevailing feeling is divided but I think a lot of people-around 50% or more feel pretty shafted by the way vaccinations were rushed through and mandated.

This is being studied and prosecuted now and I think a future pandemic will be handled differently.

Australians have never been oppressed by truly bad government before in its short history. This means the complete inability of its constituents to understand the importance of basic freedoms adopted by countries that have gone through social upheaval as a result of bad governance (i.e France's declaration of the rights of man and the citizen, America's constitutions etc)

The reality is, of course, that narrowing the gap of between opportunities and rights of minority and non-minority groups (even though some of those minority groups - like 'women' - aren't even minorities) doesn't reduce the opportunities and rights of those non-minority groups in most cases, and never reduces the opportunities and rights of non-minority groups below those of the so-called minority groups.

For example, the rights of two people of the same sex to get married does absolutely nothing to reduce the rights of different sex people to get married.

The right of someone to be recognised as the gender they feel aligns with them does nothing to affect the rights of others to be recognised as the gender that they feel aligns with others.

I don't really have a problem with stronger borders, but he didn't do it last time even though it was his biggest promise, so doubt he'll achieve anything this time either.
