He is an extreme malignant narcissist - no doubt his childhood has driven unsolvable levels of insecurity and unworthiness into him. He is a flawed human devoid of love and empathy with a constant need to be praised.

I worked for 2 years under a malignant narcissist before i got out - a complete authoritarian who ran the joint as CEO.
The parallels with Trump are eerily similar - culture of zero morality , extreme bullying and sexual harassment , appalling leadership, prodigious staff turnover except for the sycophants who stayed , plus misogyny at every turn - a completely toxic workplace.

Either a girl broke his heart around the age of 15-18 or he got physically humbled in public and he's never gotten over it.

I think a lot of politicians are narcs but most are smart enough to learn to hide or mask it.

I'd wager most of it was a result of his father - from what I have read he didn't receive a lot of love or affection from. That's why he tends to draw so much support from the 'macho' bravado types - they adore authoratarians. Vince McMahon (well known to have had a shit childhood and absentee father in his formative years who didn't believe in him) , Andrew Tate (who's father was officially diagnosed with NPD). Hulk Hogan not sure of his childhood but his tells are fairly evident too when you know the signs and by most accounts a huge piece of shit.
