Few subs on Reddit I follow have banned Twitter posts.

Be great if bigfooty followed suit.

Americans voting in Elon and Trump, what a bunch of clowns. **** both those guys.

It's crazy to think out there in America there's a kid right now who, assuming they survive any planned school shootings, survive whatever medical plan their parents can afford and don't turn out to be super geniuses...they'll get to clean the toilets at SpaceX for the eventual people who go to Mars.

And they say the American dream is dead.

Will the 7/11 be forced to close?

i mean i obviously can't tell you what employees earn or what their visa split is as i don't work there but based on what google tells me the AVG tesla wage is pretty decent and seems to be pretty far above the avg american salary, and if a fair chunk of his workforce (60% total non-white, 35% of leadership non-white it would appear that regardless he is paying them pretty well?

nothing i have read alludes to the fact Elon is luring people in on these H1B visas, and then underpaying people en masse.

H1B visas are typically for skilled immigrants? Not the type of people who are putting batteries in phones in some sweatshop.
Yeah, but if Elon’s workers on H1B visas are accepting income below what he would pay Americans, then he’s saving money. Banning the visa would mean that he’d either need to pay more by replacing those positions with Americans, or work with less staff.

Hence, H1B visas may actually work in his favour.

The main point I want to highlight is that most billionaires aren’t people that care about the plight of ordinary citizens when taking a stance. When they make a decision on something, there’s usually a lot of self-interest involved. That’s probably how they became billionaires in the first place. Whether it is foreign collection of data, policies on speech censorship etc. There’s usually self-interest involved.

For example, Elon Musk wasn’t using white supremacist talking points a year and a half ago. He suddenly switched up when he started losing a lot of X sponsors afree October 7 happened. He was always right-leaning, but that’s when he dove straight into alt-right talking points about race. He probably saw that he had something to gain (i.e., not losing those sponsorships), so he started talking like white supremacists do. And here we are today.

Same with Donald Trump and fascism. He probably saw that he could personally gain power by being more of a fascist than a liberal, and he took it. He probably ran for the Republican Party because they were more likely to vote for someone like him. I mean, he said as much in one of his earlier interviews. And here we are today.

Many billionaires don’t think like you and I, which is why we probably can’t use our patterns of thinking to make sense of their decisions. Many are just doing things out of their own interests.

Alot of this is fair, and I'm not arguing that both Elon and Trump don't display far right-wing ideology and tendencies, they clearly do.

I just believe Elon supports minorities working at his companies (through this VISA process), and by all reports he pays them well. Minorities make up a huge part of Tesla's workforce and it isn't just low-level grunts. 1/3 of his leadership team are non-white.

Trump's first 24 hours is a great success

Whether it’s true or not mate, or if it’s not as bad as they make out, wouldn’t you feel better with a cleaner world anyway?
Batteries, solar, EVs etc.

Doesn't really make that much of a difference. They're still going to drill baby drill.

The striking thing is though that they were all singing from the same playbook about stopping immigrants take our jobs, until it impacts one of the grifters bottom line

HTW way to tell us you are a Trump supporter without actually saying it.

Your comments around AOC are staggering in what you believes she needs to do to win is the complete opposite to what Trump just did to win the election.

Don't be petty, that is Trumps whole MO, you only have to look at the executive orders he is firing off, more so rescinding all of Bidens, be they good or bad, without any solid reasoning, that looks petty to me, plus the list will go on

Accept that he won, i don't see where she didn't, unlike your mate Trump who is still saying that he was cheated.

Intend the inauguration as a a show of decency, something Trump didn't do.

I would say not celebrating rapists is a good thing.

Why would she need to be better than Trump, he has set the bar for what you can do to win the presidency.

The stupid really do control US now, how else can you can explain f/wits like Ted Cruz, MTG and a convicted criminal Trump repeatedly get elected, among others, to win you have to get the most votes, and they are getting them.

I believe she doesn't need to act like Trump to beat republicans. I think trump is a fool, the problem is I believe Americans weren't given a better option, namely because Biden took so long to pull out, no primary etc etc. I'm certainly not a supporter of his.

Come 2028, people are going to tire of Trumps antics, just like they did towards the end of this last Term.

AOC can with the 2028 IMO

Australia is going to have to make a similar choice this year mind you. Dutton is a complete and utter douche and the furthest thing you'd want as a PM, but Albanese (who I voted for) is running the joint into the ground. Thats the problem with this system. In many cases you're choosing the lesser evil.

The bible does say money is a root of all evil. And Elon has plenty of money.

Very true, that book has caused a fair bit of evil also...

It's hard to get a sense from over here what extent the average Joe/Jane in the US is engaged in the whole political drama. We see the intense emotion playing out on TV but is this reflective of the populace or just at the pointy end?
Always the problem with America. There's so damn many Americans. Very hard to get any sort of handle on what the majority are thinking and feeling.

Dunno how some people wouldn't be on board with the idea of something like solar.

The problem is its cost inhibitive for a lot of people to set it all up initially for it to make financial sense, the idea of it though is brilliant.
