This thread is not about Covid, lockdowns, or vaccines. It is about Donald Trump. While Trump was in office during the pandemic and his response to Covid is relevant, there are pertinent threads for you to post your opinions on those things in.

Federal workers told to dob in colleagues who 'disguise' DEI programs​

The White House isn't just directing federal agencies to eliminate DEI programs (diversity, equity and inclusion), it's also encouraging workers to report on any attempts by their colleagues to "disguise these programs by using coded or imprecise language" — and threatening workers who don't dob in their colleagues with "adverse consequences".
Federal employees are being sent emails by their agency heads that specify they have 10 days to report such instances or face potential disclipinary action.
The emails were based on a template provided by the White House's Office of Personnel Management, according to The New York Times.

So by threatening anyone who doesn’t report supposed DEI programmes-in-disguise, you encourage people to dob in any recruitment process, regardless of how it operates.

The logical end result is that no-one will hire a woman or someone from a minority group (even if they are “the best candidate” according to some mythical concept of meritocracy). And that is quite possibly the intended endgame. Back to straight, white Christian men for everything.

This is such a fantastic post.

Anti-DEI sentiment is at best just a basic lack of understanding or at worst thinly veiled prejudice.

But it works so well for the Republicans in the US because it's an easy target for riling up their predominantly straight white base.

Even in this scenario, I have to slightly disagree with the comparison. Proper implementation of DEI in this situation would still be selecting the most suitable player/candidate, or the player with the most upside in a footy scenario.

Part of the misunderstanding is the belief that DEI candidates are selected over more qualified or suitable people just because they fit the criteria or help fill a quota.

A more apt comparison would be that the recruitment department previously ONLY looked at players coming through elite pathways or only private school teams. A DEI program would be put in place to expand the recruiting pool to different regions, looking for qualified players that would improve your team that otherwise would never be considered.

I reckon on the list of things the church should apologise for, this is right at the bottom of the list.

No. Well, Trump can't at least.

The idea is to whip up anger at her simply for being consistent with her religion.

Even if she doesn't suffer any employment consequences, it serves as a warning to others who might publicly exercise their freedom of speech and religion, if it doesn't align with Trump.
