Would be really cruel for the Poms.If rained saved the Aussies.Given there dominant position in this test.
Sure, but they’ve also won the toss every Test so far, have had the best batting conditions and their opposition lost the worlds best spinner. They’ve had their fair share of luck too. Warner chopped one on yesterday, but Crawley was french cutting those for 4 the day before. Won’t be the first time rain has cost a team a likely win and won’t be the last.

Really silly to try and take batting all rounders to draw the match. A negative mindset, clearly watching/reading the weather reports as a selection guide. Batting for a draw.

Now batting to avoid an embarrassing inning and runs defeat
There is no evidence for the bolded. The logic was more to do with the following:

Nathan Lyon can't play and his replacement is very inexperienced. They effectively did not bowl him anyway at Headingley.
Australia have not scored enough runs this series, so a little more batting depth was clearly attractive.
Marsh and Green together effectively cover for the loss of a bowler.

There was nothing about the way Australia batted in the 1st innings that suggested the aim was a draw.

Whatever the case, this Test is now lost, which sets up a thrilling fifth test.

Mind you, if Australia win that then the series won't count anyway because of Carey's stumping, just as the last series doesn't count because it was in Australia. Such gracious people.

There are not. We have had way worst top orders in the last 15 years.

4 out of the 5 have all made a lot of runs in the last 2 years. Warner obviously being the one who hasn't.

@Foreign Legion

Forecasts can change quickly. Just wait and see
We are talking about the British Met Office - I think they know Manchester well.

That is the one I am looking at too. Some of it can still miss the ground, etc. Lets just see what happens.

How many on here thought most of day 3 at Leeds was going to be washed out? Weather is unpredictable

Some of you aren't even looking at the Old Trafford forecast either, just the city. Rookies
