I do think the next phase for him is to start spending more time forward. Maybe not next year but in a couple of years, and just have bursts on ball where he does big damage (like the GF).

I think so too, his marking is better than just about any player his size in the compeition.

So after spending the first 5-6 years as an inconsistent tease up forward, he then has 2 superstar years playing midfield and you want to send him back forward?

I doubt it. He’s going to be a 75:25 mid:fwd for the next 5 years

Way to miss the boat on this.
It's called evolving, when we have blokes like Sparrow who will need more midfield time Trac could go forward and 5 goals
In case you didn't realise both goals came with him resting forward.

Need to something about his shots on goal. I don't know if he is just gassed from his work rate, or if it's mental/mechanical. Either way he needs an extra session every week on goalkicking.

32 shots at goal for 28% accuracy (9 goals). Even just getting this up to 40% would be helpful (his 2021 accuracy, which was still below average).

His kicking in general the last, maybe 4-5 weeks, has been largely dogshit

No wonder our forwards have been struggling with the amount of inside 50s he's had. Would be interesting to see his kick retention from this period, as the eye test has been pretty clear. Also looks visibily frustrated with himself.

He will work through it as he's a champion player. Probably just needs to stop thinking he needs to kick the cover off the ball every time he has it in his hands. It's clearly a directive to get deep inside 50 entries, but christ we could at least put it to our forward's advantage.

Maybe he needs some of that long run up, Benny Brown style. I thought his field kicking is still quite good but his goal kicking is even worse now.
It's the only thing holding him back from being a real superstar imo.

Wonder if he’s carrying something?

Hes carrying the weight of expectations in his head.

This is why you shouldn't shhhh the crowd when you kick one in four coz you look like a dickhead and bring more pressure on yourself while being unequipped to handle it.

Just needs to go back to basics and keep it simple.

The amount of times he's tried to do the miracle snap from the boundary or just completely blast away at goal when teammates have been in the clear in much better position closer to goal. I've seen a few teammates give him a decent spray recently for just blazing away.

Can't the OX or Brad Green go down and show him how to kick at goal? Yze was pretty good from memory as well. Trac looks like the type of bloke that would have 100 shots on goal after training. So why isn't he doing it? He should have 20 goals for the season by now!

We have reached a level of greatness where players are being critiqued for not performing while still sitting in the top 3 of the AFLCA award.

I remember being stooked that we just had Jonesy for a while

Oh how the times I have changed
