watched our captains run and he spent a good portion of the session just kicking 30 - 40 metres kicks with a staff member. three quick steps then kick almost like breaking away from the stoppage to kick.
He looked frustrated at his kicks then! Missed the target a bit and all seemed to be very low. He clearly knows he needs to work on this area of his game. I'm backing him to turn it around.

It all starts with grip - the best passing kickers usually run the ball seam between the middle and ring finger. Hopefully they are looking at everything in his action and with Scott you imagine they are. He needs to walk around the house with a ball in hand and play it out in his mind again and again. Good luck to the kid hopefully it doesn't get him too down.

You'd think all the draft experts/recruitment would have picked this up..can't recall it being a red flag at the time

That a player can go top 5 and have his kicking be this bad says something about the entire pathway system and where it's focus is

What about his draft highlights? He kicked some great running goals. How come he dominates the vfl if he ain't no good?

He’s not ‘no good’.

And while he gets plenty of the ball, he doesn’t really dominate in the VFL. He maybe has once this year. He’s not slotting them from 55m out on the run.

Think his kicking has more upside than Clarke who genuinely looked like he had trouble dropping it onto his foot.
How would Clarke have even known he likes playing footy if his kicking is that bad as a professional let alone a beginner?
