Isaac Heeney

Isaac Heeney is a crowd favourite and one of the best young players in the competition. The QBE Sydney Swans Academy graduate won the 2018 AFL Mark of the Year award, was selected in the AFL Players’ Association’s 22Under22 team in two of his eligible four years and played his 100th senior game in 2019. Heeney can be used in the midfield, forward line – where he booted four goals in star teammate Lance Franklin’s absence in Round 20 last year – or as a loose man in defence.

Yep should've just said he was manoeuvring himself to break free for the lead rather than anything involving a fend
That was it, that's all he had to say.

The vision does not show Heeney tried to fend. Can they prove it?

Heeney was trying to break free, he never fended or pushed away and should not be intentional

How our own team has missed what the definition of intentional is is just bizzare

All these people saying we butchered the defence andi up and blah blah. These guys are KCs for crying out loud. if they don't know how to present things than we are in trouble as a society.

Well we managed to get the worst one in Sydney lol

Just hire Carlton’s one

They are now deliberating.

Swans have asked for 'Common sense to prevail'
That's the best argument they have made so far.

The (stupid) rule provides for common sense to be used by including the word 'usually'.

All the tribunal should have been deciding is did Heeney intentionally strike Webster in the face? If the answer is no, which it clearly is, it should be downgraded to careless.

Doesn't the fact that Webster's head was where Heeney expected his chest to be count as an "unusual aspect"?

If Webster doesn't slip, there is no issue.
The argument from the tribunal

As soon as Heeney intended to fend/strike it became intentional.

So because he "intended" to hit Websters chest but hit his head it is intentional

0.5% chance of overturn.

Just need Chad or Errol to win Brownlow outright now to stick it up AFL in their attempt to keep medal in Vic for #100 and for Heeney to not forever rue the day he did something unintentional while keeping his eyes on ball.

I’d take Serong winning and I have him 2 behind on my count

Do like how it’s intentional now but Daicos did it a month ago and was careless

Look honestly both should be intentional but why is there two rulings aside from VicBoas

The VFL still run the league
