Isaac Heeney

Isaac Heeney is a crowd favourite and one of the best young players in the competition. The QBE Sydney Swans Academy graduate won the 2018 AFL Mark of the Year award, was selected in the AFL Players’ Association’s 22Under22 team in two of his eligible four years and played his 100th senior game in 2019. Heeney can be used in the midfield, forward line – where he booted four goals in star teammate Lance Franklin’s absence in Round 20 last year – or as a loose man in defence.

Isaac Heeney
DOB: 05 May 1996
DEBUT: 2015
DRAFT: #18, 2014 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Cardiff (NSW)

If our legal counsel can’t get Heeney off then they should be sacked. We need to get the best eg Bret Walker on this.

What an absolute sh*t show the AFL is.
who needs legal counsel when the AFL themselves are already contradicting the 'intentional aspect' and heavily inferring 'careless' in reporting.

".....when the Swan attempted to push off Webster in a marking contest and struck the Saints defender high" #Amateurhour

The AFL really are overcompensating on protecting the head if stuff like this is worth a suspension. Webster was leaning forward, slightly crouched, and Heeney's arm was hardly swinging back parallel with his shoulder. It's a contact sport. Players are going to be jostling with each other like this all the time and accidents like this will occur.

FWIW:

"[Sydney] believe they can use the wriggle room about behind play fends “usually” being intentional under AFL rules and also believe Webster’s medical report was favourable for Heeney.

He suffered a blood nose but that medical report is understood to have shown no other damage, which might help them downgrade the force of the strike."

He half swung with an open hand at what should have been where his forearm was if the bloke hadn't stumbled and half fallen over. A football action to get free of an assumed grapple.
It was about waist high FCS!

Anyone at all think that would be a week if it was Daicos? Would it F.!

If that costs him a shot at the medal the Swans ought to boycott the night altogether or find players 18-30 on the list to go and they can hire the ugliest 50 yr old broads in Broken Hill to be their dates for the night and totally take the mickey. The ladies can forget to shave their legs and other bits for the two months prior and then wear some crazily revealing outfits. Basically ham it up if the we are contractually obligated to attend.

Hey hey cmon lets not bring Bring Broken Hill into this :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

The AFL is placing the game is at serious risk. Punish this and we are on a slippery slope to rule making barrister style. It has absolutely killed rugby union where you can’t even have any forceful contact without a penalty / sending off. Union numbers have plummeted dramatically both in participation, specatatorship and viewership. The biggest complaint is the over zealous rule making and officiating.

Think it can’t happen to AFL, think again.

I like fast players.

How about those Wallabies though 😍

got a slight blood nose, I reckon the 100s of pinches or nipple cripples dished out weekly would hurt more than this. They don't get cited. It's all gone to crap. Not a great game anymore.

Heeney should feel a little stiff
even though there is a rule change, the fact that Maynard knocked out Brayshaw and actually ended his career, he got to play the following week, makes Heeney look like a bit of a soft bitch slap. Compare the two. The thing is if it were N Daicos or M Bontompelli , not a word would be said.

Bret Walker got Pell off, so Heeney should be easy. (I sat in on a matter with Mr Walker - there were about 8 of us in this meeting listening intently, not caring that he was actually sitting there wearing his bike riding Lycra!!! )

Feels like a stage managed event

He'll get off
Will get off, how the Ports ZurkmThatcher was not cited and Heeney was screams of media hype getting a Result….this rule has a poor record at tribunal, keeps getting downgraded.

Atleast Heeney made David Zita some overtime bonus pay, but thats about all that will come from this

OTC Lyon realises he is wrong here when he argues about separation then actually reads the rule leaving out the word including….lol
Anyone can get that vision up it’s a good watch….

Looking at the vision more its Webster lunging out to grab Heeney's jumper that causes his head to drop and Heeney just tries to slap him off but Webster's head is where his chest should be. Suspended Heeney because Webster infringes on him and the ump doesn't call it is a pretty damning sight
